Non dedicated crossplay

SO, i'm convincing a friend to buy ark survival ascended, are non dedicated servers (private sessions) able to play in other platforms? he's on PS5 i'm on PC so i need help to know how to do the crossplay thing (always played solo until now)

Yes its called Crossplay that enables PC and console players to play on the same map and interact. So when you start ASA Ark you are presented with 4 cards on the screen, survival of the fittesst, join game , create game, mods list.

you need to choose join game, now you have a huge list, with 3 headings, i would say choose the middle UNOFFICAIL, Tick show player servers, tick auto favorite, You can join any of these providing they have slots available for you, look for low ping and probably because you are starting out new try choose a server that has a low day start on it so that you do not have a disadvantage. You could try my server to see how it goes. search in this steam window you have open for ASA-Vigs-island(UK) select it ior any other that takes your fancy and click join. At first load it may take longer to load as the MODS for that server will have to download to your PC/console. you are more than welcome to drop by to experience a server where you can play together and with others.

To add further you really do want to avoid non dedicated as you have a server running and you are connecting to that game on the same PC.. that is not good, Pc has to do a huge amount more work with lags and other things going on

The dev team thought it would be a good idea to ruin what few features work on this game. This should come as no surprise, but the devs of this game and the previous iteration are some of the most backwards, inexperienced developers in the industry. And, in an industry already plagued by incompetence, it's almost as hard to be the worst developer as it is the best. Somehow this team managed it, though.

I do not recommend playing a Non-Dedicated session, the tether distance is awful.
When i purchased ASA, i wanted to play with my best friend like this, it simply did not worked.
Tether distance is such a short distance my friend couldn't go farm outside while i was building the house without being out of each other's boundaries.

I suggest finding a good community server that will make you feel like home without the trouble of hosting yourself!

this is incorrect non dedicated plays are not cross play. you need to host a dedicated server on your pc. with the ark ascended dedicated server tool. or rent a server from nitrado

ive added you. I have got a pve server that ive got paid for for the rest of the year. I work fulltime so i dont get to play much but im open to having company on it :)

Hey im trying to host a dedicated server that has crossplay, is that possible? I use to host servers on ASE
