Game lags at certain time of day
My games framerate drops drastically around the end of night time and at the start of day time. I’m guessing it’s something with the lighting? If anyone knows a console command or other way to pause the time cycle that would be great.

You can change the time of day with the SetTimeOfDay command. You can modify settings deep in the menu or game files to change how long day and night lasts.

I saw a guide on getting an FPS boost that recommended using r.Shadow.Virtual.Enable 0 as a console command. When I noticed my FPS getting lower in the evening I found that using r.Shadow.Virtual.Enable 1 seemed to resolve it, which may be the default setting. I'd recommend trying that. Feel free to let me know if you need help.

This worked! Thank you very much for helping, I have another issue where my fps drops about 5-20 frames once I equip the torch, any solution for that?

Glad I could help and see that others had solutions, too. I don't know about the torch issue, sorry.

same for me....

I use Photomode and set the 'time of day' slider back to 9... (single player)

once I notice frames dipping and sun going down, i slide it back.

Try using the command r.Shadow.Virtual.Enable 1, that fixed it for me

Also, just in general, I find if you change global illumination quality, save, and go back to whatever setting you want and save again the game's performance increases big time
