Tether Distance
You need to adjust the distance of the Tether, it is not possible that it is only 180m from the non-dedicated server host, solve this problem.

Agreed, I bought a friend this game, and when i host, he cant adventure without a kid leash. Thats a rip off, DO NOT TELL ME I HAVE TO PAY FOR A DEDICATED. If so, there shouldnt even be an option to adjust tether, nor should there be an option for non dedicated. This is a set of programming simply to make the dedicated server hosts money, and I DID NOT AGREE TO THAT. FIX IT OR REFUND MY MONEY FOR BOTH COPIES

The devs do not read these forums.
This does NOTHING to make the dedicated server hosts money because..... YOU CAN HOST YOUR OWN SERVER.

I disagree, this issue pushes people to either host a dedicated server (which usually requires a secondary pc) or rent a nitrado server if they want this to be a non issue. If Devs arent reading these, then why are people posting them. Evolved doesnt have this issue, so why does Ascended

Evolved does have a tether distance attached to it.
You can host a dedicated server on the same pc as the one you play on. So no need to rent a server. Most people post them because they think the devs read here, They dont. They want nothing to do with any place they have no control over to shut down these ♥♥♥♥ posts .

I didnt say anywhere that Evolved doesnt have a tether, I said it doesnt have this issue, as you can set the tether map wide. Not sure what this is even your business for, since you just keep saying non relevent, un polished half facts attempting to make an argument

It's a public post so It's anybodies business who chooses to comment, twitch posts more helpful answers on here than most people so it's usually worth reading what he has to say.

You posted that you need a 2nd PC to host dedicated and he explained that you didn't so that seems helpful?

The tether distance has been a problem on evolved and still is on console versions, the PC version of evolved has been out long enough for things to change.
This game is early access and many people have crashing problems, un-tethered non-dedicated can cause crashes so they have it in place so as not to add something that could cause further issues.

how are these half facts ?> Sorry i should have clarified. ASE has a tether distance. There is nothing to fix on the tether distance here. It is in place for a reason. And just because people do not like it doesnt mean, it shouldnt be there.
you do NOT need nitrado to host a server for you , you can do it on the same pc you play on. It will stress a little if you have an older pc, but it is possible to host it and play on the same pc, therefor eliminating the tether issue.
if you saw my statement as an attempt to argue, that means you want to argue. Relax kiddo., Its a forum about a game. Nobody took your candy.

The issue is that the tether distance setting isnt working properly in ASA. We all understand that tether distance is going to be a thing. People who play this way have been talking about it for some time. Its a known issue.

Now see... Now you bring to the table the real issue. Not that tether is the issue, but that it isnt working as intended.
What is the exact issue that it is " not working as intended " ?
the facts:
It has (supposed to have ) a max distance of 180

what is broken.

There is a slider which allows you to raise or lower the tether distance, but raising it doesnt actually extend the tether distance. Even maxed, it behaves as though set to default.

you install the server software to a separate hdd/ssd or install location and run it.
You can also install a virtual instance with an os and so on.

Sorry, I meant how well do they run/how impactful are they to the host.

this game is ram intense, an instance can require up to 10 gigs of ram on and off.
multi core cpu. i would try it out just for the test bed and see.

Are there any tutorials on this kind of thing?
