Did you try a demo or anything of Palworld? It is being released to Early Access in 1 week. So doesn't seem like anyone could be playing it yet.
Looks like myth of empires was in Early Access but they paused that just before its release on Feb 21, 2024. Right? Doesn't look like it can actually be played at the moment.
True, but I'm a bit more flexible. My favorite style of game includes open-world (like ARK), open world PvE combat (like ARK, some kind of mob you fight or kill), exploration, building, and crafting. Food and drink I actually prefer to be optional, not required like in ARK, so I'm technically not that big a fan of survival games.
So far of all the games mentioned, Nightingale sounds most like what I like and is coming out soon. I would prefer Light No Fire come out sooner though, as I know that Hello Games has a reputation of delivering a good game. Not quickly, but they will eventually
The only problem I had with NMS is that there doesn't seem to be much of a goal. You collect better and better stuff, build a base, explore, but why?
Light No Fire sounds a bit like a better Minecraft, but Minecraft at least had the goal of defeat the dragon. I would usually stop playing a seed once I killed the dragon and then start another seed. Each seed produced a "unique" world, so the challenge was collecting all the stuff needed to defeat the dragon. This included exploration to find all the necessary things to do that and all the time, defeating any mobs and environmental hazards along the way. Light No Fire needs that kind of goal for those of us that just like playing until we get to the "end" goal.
I typically play ARK the same way. I level to max, unlock and build all the stuff. That usually includes unlocking the tek gear. I might do one boss fight, very rarely all the boss fights. I get some creatures that can kill pretty much anything, then I start over on some other server.
Ark's been the only game most of us would play together for a while.
Funny thing is when ASA came out, I said we should stick with ASE until we finish all the maps, the rest of the clan all voted to shut down our ASE server and move to ASA, then most of the people who wanted to move to ASA don't play anymore because they can't run the game.
Then here I am being the one who voted against ASA, being one of the most active players.
Right. Most of the communities I played with did switch to ASA, but of course, lots of problems keeping the server running and not crashing. I was bored with ASE anyway, looking to switch to a different game, so ASA seemed like a good choice. I'm now bored with ASA (runs fairly well for me) and looking for another game, as ASA with one map gets old too fast.
I'm actually playing ESO, which is basically the type of game I prefer. Mostly PvE, has food and drink, but only as a skill booster, not required. Has a lot of elements similar to ARK and should run well on any system that can run ASE. It is an old game though, older than ARK. So not a step forward, but still a fun game, considering that it is coming up on its 10th anniversary. Its new to me, so should keep me entertained for awhile.
Palworld is set to release to Early Access on the 19th, so in a few days. There are videos out now of streamers playing it. I now see that the style of creatures, etc. is actually that they are pokemon, so intentional. A lot of the game play and crafting is very similar to ARK.
It actually looks fun, although I've never played Pokemon. Might just play this one.
