The legit state in there EA statement that they are working with a new engine (to them)
and that they will be working through kinks.
'WHAT THE DEVELOPERS HAVE TO SAY:
Why Early Access?
“We've decided to use the Early Access model for multiple reasons. The most valuable reason is that we found it very constructive to develop our studio’s original title, ARK: Survival Evolved, in tandem with the community’s continual feedback, and seeing as ARK: Survival Ascended (ASA) will have its own set of gameplay features, we wanted to have the opportunity to do the same with the wisdom of the many.
ASA is also being developed on the latest version of Unreal Engine 5; much like ARK: SE at the time of its development early in its engine’s lifecycle, there’s a lot of new tech and systems being explored in innovative ways, and we’ll need to ensure that we’ve worked through all the kinks.
Finally, ASA has its own unique content roadmap in addition to the remade expansion pack content, which gives us an opportunity to develop closely with the Community. Once we’ve delivered our plans, we can officially leave Early Access.”
Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
“We're expecting to be in Early Access until the end of 2024. That said, as we get farther down our development path, we'll share continued updates that help to define a more specific timeline for bringing the game out of early access.”
How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
“ARK: Survival Ascended will differ at full release from Early Access in the following ways:
In addition to The Island, we plan to have the following content available, remade, in Unreal Engine 5:
Survival of the Fittest (Battle Royale)
Scorched Earth
Aberration
Extinction
Genesis Part 1
Genesis Part 2
We also plan to have the previously released free DLC available: The Center, Ragnarok, Valguero, Crystal Isles, Lost Island, and Fjordur. Each of these respective maps will receive one completely new creature nominated by the community.
We also plan to add new original story content to ASA that will be tied to future story-themed DLC, as well as new gameplay and content additions to the overall product that isn’t available on Day One.”
What is the current state of the Early Access version?
“We've redesigned and rebuilt the game from the ground up, and for Day One, we'll be launching with the first official map, The Island, and Official Mod support.”
Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?
“Once the game is ready to leave Early Access, we’ll be reevaluating its price point based on all the available content/gameplay and make our decision at that time.”
How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?
“Community involvement is, perhaps, the most important reason why we think it best to launch ARK: Survival Ascended as an Early Access product. Developing directly with the community’s input is important to us, and we plan to do so by directly engaging with players across multiple social channels and platforms, including Discord, Twitter, and the Message Boards at SurviveTheARK.com. We will also conduct creature votes for each map, so players can directly determine what creatures are added to ASA. We’ll also have tools available to take player feedback and bug reports to ensure that ASA will continue to be the remake of your next-gen dreams!”'
like i said, early access is still happening in ASE. We wanna play for what we pay for. Ever see console games go early access? NOPE they cant. gtfoh with nonsense argument. ITs very misleading and to say otherwise is ignorant, just as this post is. This happens because we let it happen. How is it panning out for ASA ? yah i didnt think so. Go mislead someone else. im not going to read a bunch of ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ when im trying to play a game. Nonsense.
Then there are also different API's at play, if you actually did any research of how games work then you would find that what might work in one configuration totally breaks another e.g Dx 11 , 12 , Vulkan.
Same also goes for hardware, and i see it almost daily on here people are like well I have the amd equivalent of an RTX 40 series why is this game loosing some many frames / crashing blah blah and on the other side oh why are we forced to use FRS instead of DLSS my nvidia card don't get full utilization etc etc in those cases thats because a dev has signed a partnership and ofc AMD is not gonna optimize for Nvida product nor is Nvidia gonna optimize for AMD products so devs have to get some kind of middle ground with that too.
People legit rip into devs from large and indie studios about things they know nothing about, and think cos it works on a console so it should magically be the case on PC... nah ah don't work like that.
Every PS5 has the same hardware, every Xbox has the same hard ware and software for that matter and same with every nintendo switch with some small variations e.g ssd or hdd, a few mhz here or there in clock speeds.
PC on the other hand has as i said legit 1000's of configurations, with more and more users running on Linux os's now and on Linux alone there are now 100's of variations to contend with.
So yeh before calling out the dev's for having the nerve to release and EA (EA actually helps them to correlate and polish the game for all of us with the various hardware's and software configuration) try doing some research first and using some common sense.
ASE has been out of Early Access for a long time, in 2017 to be exact.
While it may not feel like that, it stopped using the Early Access tag in that year, so that means its no longer in it.
