Another bug or Corrupted save?
So after the last update, my singleplayer save has been absolutely kaput. Typically, I click on singleplayer, the island, and singleplayer, and then as I'm loading in, the game briefly flashes from fullscreen to windowed and back, before giving me an error code along the lines of "something-something Dave_WC Purplerain." I'm currently reinstalling it, so I'll attach an actual crash report when it's done (if I still crash ofc) but I'm completely exhausted from trying to fix this game. I've looked at every other forum, video, and post that I could find and every solution I've offered has been rejected by this godforsaken game. I downloaded SOTF and a Modded Map, and I loaded into both just fine, even with my mods as well. My only assumption is that this update literally just corrupted my save file, but after all the work I've done building my beloved bases, I REALLY hope that's not the case. Any help would be appreciated, thanks in advance

i had the exact same thing happen today this morning it seems ( take this with a grain of salt) its because of one of the mods being broken and the single player part has a bug with the mods again not sure so might wanna check

I see, do u know which mod was causing the trouble for you? I saw some people say removing a few specific ones helped for them, but the only one that I had was the Archelon mod from ark additions, and when I removed it I still got the same result.

this is the same old ASE crap almost copy pasted to a new drive. if your system is up do date(dx, navidia driver, cpu drivers, MODS ect) running it through gforce may help but not likely. you can also try some of the start up command to turn it into a poly game. good luck, hope they get it sorted soon

You will crash.

The purple rain bug is well known.

When you next log in, do not load your save or singleplayer.
Go to Settings, UI and disable menu transitions. Set the game to Medium Settings. And restart the game. Then try logging into any official server... if you can find with spaces.. once in game, just sit around for 5 mins or so. If the game doesn't crash.. you should generally be fine. If it does.. well either put up with it, refund, wait.. etc.. If it crashes on an official server.. it will in single player as well and probably more often.

yes that is true! it has pre set setting it applies to games to run them "best" for your hardware. seeing as navidia has 8000 diff cards.
as i said this dx issue for Ark is not new. some times with updates you can get it running. some times not. its always been that way.

Yeh we need microsoft to bring out a DirectX15... or something.. it's not been updated properly for nearly 2 decades.

well.. dx10 was a new beast, 11 was an updated version ish. 12 runs hella better hardware. its why out of dx9 we could have expected this type of error. but... this would be a much wider issue with a many more UE games today.(kinda like the 90's early 2000's) this is a nearly 10 year old Ark issue.
