Oh well, time for yet another restart for me now...
It's insane how badly coded this game is.
An "EXCEPTION ACCESS VIOLATION" error typically indicates that the game attempted to access a memory address that is not allowed or does not exist. This error is a type of memory violation and often results in the termination of the program.
Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot and potentially resolve the issue:
1) Verify Game Files: Use the game platform (e.g., Steam) to verify the integrity of the game files. This will check for and repair any corrupted files.
2) Update Graphics Drivers: Ensure that your graphics drivers are up-to-date. Visit the website of your graphics card manufacturer (NVIDIA, AMD, or Intel) to download and install the latest drivers.
3) Check for Windows Updates: Make sure your operating system is up-to-date with the latest updates from Microsoft.
4) Disable Overclocking: If you have overclocked your hardware (CPU, GPU, RAM), revert to default settings and see if the problem persists.
5) Run Memtest86: Use a tool like Memtest86 to check for memory (RAM) errors. Faulty RAM can cause access violation errors.
6) Temporarily Disable Antivirus/Firewall: Your antivirus or firewall may be interfering with the game. Temporarily disable them to see if the issue persists.
7) Reinstall the Game: If all else fails, you may need to uninstall and then reinstall Ark Survival Ascended.

It's the game code quality that is pure garbage. For me, I actually didn't see this crash until they gave us a patch update a few days ago. I forget if my problem started with the v33.9 client patch or v33.15. One of them.
Had been playing for 150 hours before that point. Nothing. No issue. Then all of a sudden I'm seeing this crash very, very often when trying to launch the game via Steam. If I reboot enough times, eventually I am able to launch it and play (and no crashes during gameplay).
Started playing the game since launch and i started crashing today.....
Ahh the usual generic response this is crap devs need to sort this game out it's a game issue not a user computer issue.
1) Reboot/restart Windows.
2) Sit tight. Stare at your screen. Log in IMMEDIATELY when you are prompted with the lock screen upon startup.
3) Launch Steam IMMEDIATELY. Or wait for it to autostart if you have it set to launch automatically.
4) Launch the game from within Steam IMMEDIATELY.
I know, I know. It sounds totally brain-dead. I fail to see the hows and whys. But try it out... Let us know if it works for you as well.
If I have my PC sit idle at either the Windows startup lock screen and/or sit idle for a few mins after having typed my PIN/password to login, the game will crash ("exception access violation") every single time and I need to reboot again.
I have tested this 20 times now the past day. 10 times where I let it idle for a few mins before launching the game, and 10 times where I act immediately as described above.
Again, I have no idea what is "brewing" in the background and "builds up" - within just a few minutes upon a reboot - causing the game to puke all over upon startup (and this NEVER happened to me prior to one of the most recent ASA client patch release).
I have absolutely no issues manifest on my PC outside of ASA misbehaving (starting 4-5 days ago if my memory serves me well). Nothing is overclocked. Everything is 100% up-to-date. Also, I have successfully run various stress tests such as memtest86 and OCCT. And the Windows install is pretty new as well (3-4 months old).
But new problem: after playing for a while game will lock up and green screen on me and restart. No error code what so ever, just a green screen and the lockup sound
Necrooo'd post
Anyway for somereason I think it was due to my graphics card in a way.
It stopped doing that error and got green screens and restarts real bad. To a point I was changing BIOS settings cause from what I was looking up it might of been that. But it was crashing in BIOS as well.
Eventually replaced the 7800Xt for a 4070 Super. No more problems
