Like, that's an intended way to die, why couldn't they make it not buggy.
Ya, the older version of ARK also did this. That is a risk you take anytime you get near or push up against the world barrier. When you see the world barrier, your first reaction needs to be to move away from it as quickly as possible.
You can also be pushed under the surface (or as I like to call it, pushed under the map). That is also generally fatal, but is also a way to exploit the game. Some exploits if detected result in insta-death (coded that way in the game to punish exploiters).
it wouldn't be such a problem if the devs could make the water area a bit larger.... compared to ark 1 it feels smaller now.
I thought it was because you move so fast while flying the game doesn't have enough time to load the new map and it kills you instantly.
50/50 was the first place I wanted to check out since it was the catch all area your tamed dinos would disappear to if they got bugged. I've also noticed above 50/50 there is a pair of trousers floating in the air. It seems to turn with you.
Perhaps the trousers are shooting invisible laser beams to kill us all?
