New Nvidia GPU driver 546.29 (4th december) - How is performance?
I played around ~15mins to load shaders and the performance is still crap. The last driver already reduced my performance about 5 FPS. Now its another 5-10 FPS. Sometimes my GPU is only 40% used and I have like 30-40 FPS with medium to heavy load stutters. And no, my CPU is not a bottleneck. It worked before without issues.
Its a RTX 3070 btw, i5-10600k and 2x 16GB DDR4 RAM.
How is the performance for you?

just tested the new driver 546.29. FPS are slight losses, but in games like World of Warcraft or Battlefield 5 there is stuttering when turning quickly or when you run along walls, you notice even more that the textures drag slightly. are endless drops in milliseconds fps.

Your CPU is going to end up being a bottleneck in the next couple years - I see it's a K. How much overclocking have you done with it?

My game crashed with it. It also messed with all my game settings.

Truth be told as of lately I've tended to stay with the Studio driver versions as they are much more stable in comparison. Sure, it's currently still 546.01 (outdated by both the 546.17 and 646.29 GameReady ones, but my performance hasn't taken a hit).

I know that this CPU gets old (and I didn't overclocked it). But I am talking about ASA. I mean it worked before and my CPU still got some space... it still has space. Closing background apps has no impact on FPS. The south part of the map works perfectly fine. Lets say the whole part under redwood/swamp. I can easily get 100 FPS with the same settings. The north part, lets say right upper corner with the mountain had the best performance of the northern part. Still not as good as southern part. But that was already a thing at release time.
And now every driver seems to reduce my GPU usage and FPS while CPU is not affected

Same problem here the game not working anymore after the nvidia update (with my 3070). Tonight ASA patch change the problem (different error) but the game still not working. I try every setting i can (video and RTX), remove all mod, start new game, delete and install the game twice. I try to start a new single player session and the problem still the same. I will wait a patch ...

After update to 546.29 I am having crash after crash after crash. Have turned of Frame Generation but that did not help much. Also put game down to medium/high still no go. Driver before that works flaweless, yea I could have crash but like once a day but now it is like 50 times a day if I am lucky.

There was a hotfix for that driver works great on My rig: 13900kf 4090, epic settings, frame gen, dlaa. no crashes when playing for hours.

So far my frame rate has been far more stable.

It not better FPS or worse, but I haven't had the odd frame drops that's common with sunset and sunrise

I use a Rx 6650 Xt which is woefully underpowered compared to a 3070 and ingame generally flying around I use about 50-60% of my gpu. I don't think the game is using gpus to the full extent it could nor does it use all the cores available and trying to force the issue or overclocking also comes with it's own kettle of problems.

And 10-15 mins to reload shaders seems pretty avg to me.

Also having alot of fps doesn't necessarily mean you won't crash or the game won't feel like you're paddling in treacle.. I've had both effects.. the paddling effect is memory leaks padding out your memory which will eventually force you into a crash. And you can still have spare vram and full fps.

Alot of our problems seem to stem from drivers, but it isn't necessarily the game at fault here or the drivers.. maybe there's some content they intend to add down the line which will negate all their crash problems, maybe crashing to desktop is better than crashing and corrupting all your save files I mean look at the problem seriously, you ctd, you hit play, select server, load.. you're back ingame with 2-3 minutes. Only exception to this being if the server is full, you're in a queue. But at worst a crash is a minor inconvenience. If it happens in combat.. you may or may not be killed, you may or may not lose the dino, if it happens in midair.. you'll probably faceplant on loading.

All games suffer optimisation issues when dumping content in and doing hotfixes, patching and repatching etc.. people just need to be more patient and less demanding and expecting full access, full fps, complete optimisation etc.. remember if they're optimising the game, they aren't fixing bugs or making new content. If they're fixing bugs, they're not optimising the game.. etc.

I've been ingame now for 3 hours. Game is starting to get abit choppy, i'm getting about 25 fps, feels like i'm walking in treacle.. yeh my ram is 50% used, my cpu is 21% used, my gpu is 40% used, my vram is 80% used..

ye i went from around 140fps on servers in 1080p with my rtx 3070 and i7 11700k but now it struggles to get 60 seems strange how a driver update can do that and gpu usage is at like 50% and my cpu is at 70% while before it was at 100% gpu and 40% cpu

That one did not work for me at all, even made it worst. My PC keep restarting itself everytime I try to join a server. Funniest error I get is out of video memory XD

What fixed for me was having Global Illuminated to High and everything else on Epic. Fps was lock to 60 instead of what monitor are capable to.

If this can help somebody !!! My problem with ARK (Shader's error) was caused by Nvidia driver corruption !!! No idea why. No error, no message. No problems during update

Complete driver uninstallation with multi-reboot. And clean install fix the problem

Now I have far fewer problems
