Why is render distance 50m now?

tames are despawning/spawning infront of me at the other end of my base.

I assume you put view distance on low. I think it affects how far you can see creatures.

Nope it was a server change, happened with an update.

it's true in the official server you can only see dinos when you are a few meters away from them, this problem arrived with the latest updates, before everything was ok in single player you can see dinosaurs from a very long distance.Even taming is problematic now, flying is almost useless, you have to be a few meters from a dinosaur to see it, and once you find it when you start taming you have to be careful because out of nowhere you could find a dinosaur too close , sorry for my bad english

unacceptable render distance.. this is game breaking. It should be 500 meters no exceptions. Stop using 10 year old hardware to run the servers

lol... Just wanted to clear this up. 10 year old hardware can run the servers fine. It is how many instances/clients that can make or break it.

These half baked solutions to problems really does feel like the devs have simply run out of talent and ideas to correctly fix these issues.

Server is unstable / laggy? Too hard to properly fix that, let's reduce dino render distance. Average Bro posting above me is correct, unacceptable, if you don't have the talent to fix this, hire it, you are acting like this upgrade was free and we will accept any old bandaid solution you can come up with.

one of the annoying parts of this visual downgrade is the lights "turning On" when you get close enough where as before you could see them from across a large compound.

yep, they have bumped it up to 110m approx, and it's still really bad.

It was an update to official servers if you took 1 min to read, nothing a player can adjust... It is a deserved whinge :p
