I can highly recommend having at least one daily server restart with a forcewipe. That should prevent several potential Issues.
Logged in immediately after and checked the cave of lost faith and a couple of others. For Lost Faith, same issue hundreds of megalodons in each chamber, once your fully inside the cave (can tell by the game stutter and cave lighting) outside of the cave its normal maybe a few packs of 6-8 eels, 4-5 megalodons and the jellyfish which is what I expect to see. Usually expect most cave 'spawns' to be 2-5 pending what they are. The amount we are seeing nearly lags out the server when they activate.
The hundred pack though, if you pull one at distance they all swarm, like they are tagged together. Only way to deal with them is to get them stuck in the wall and slowly move forward dealing with the +8 pack bonus with lots of retreat and healing. Or running the server destroywilddinos command to clean it up, which is just a temporary fix as they continue to just build up.
I have seen players run it on videos without the same over spawning so not sure why its happening on our server. Is there another setting causing cave spawns to be like this? Tied to difficulty setting maybe or some other multiplier? is it just a bug we have to deal with till their fixed? Trying to figure it out for our players that want to run caves without just having them foundation spam the entire cave to stop spawning entirely.
Only other time i had problems with overspawns was when the server had issues with some creature replacement lines i setup in the game.ini.
Went ahead and did a restart, dino wipe on login, saveworld and then another restart. So far the caves 'look' normal, to how I expect they should. Will check them again later to see if its reduced the dino density after its had a little runtime.
I dont see the issue in single player or even when running dedicated server with default settings. I would start to default settings on the server we have running but afraid of how much it will disrupt with the other players.
Outside of the caves everything looks normal pretty much, its just inside caves are over spawned to the point they cant be ran.
To me it seems like the cave spawner, spawns, then checks on its timer if it needs to spawn and just spawns again regardless how much is already spawned. I've watched new sharks spawn in the next room before even clearing. We also tried slowly pulling through a cave but they were respawning in the next room faster than we were willing to pull them out to fight them at 10-15 at a time.
I also heard this was an original problem on ASE as well that needed to be fixed so my guess is its the same issue only with ASA.
