Cave Dino Over Spawning
I am not sure what is going on with our server, everything appears to function spawn and work as we want anywhere on the island except for caves. We have our dinocountmultiplier down to 0.7 now and we still get wall to wall dino spawn in the cave. Excess of 100+ spawns like there is no limit to how many can spawn in the cave. Does not seem to matter which cave we do each one is just packed full of whatever dino type spawns in them.

Just now in Brute Cave, the artifact pool area is just filled with megalodons wall to wall not even counting the other aquatics in there. I am not sure why this is happening and am trying to find a solution to it short of doing dino wipes to clear the caves before we run them.

Were on a unofficial private server just for family running various settings but not sure why its over spawning in just the caves.

caves have a tendency to repopulate every time the server reboots. but caves in general tend to have a lot of creatures. *(not as bad as what you mentioned .. normally )

Currently we dont have it doing regular dino wipes, which I know you can setup on reboot. Wondering if this would help the issue like its just re-spawning the entire cave after a reboot, even though the dinos are already there.

Just to give an idea, uploaded a photo from Lost Faith above the brute artifact.

We ran a server for A:SE for years and A:SA seems to share almost all of its bugs.
I can highly recommend having at least one daily server restart with a forcewipe. That should prevent several potential Issues.

So I tried setting a setting on our general settings on the server with Nitrado for "Wipe all Wild Creatures" Forces a respawn of all wild creatures on server restart (which I believe is this startup command: -ForceRespawnDinos). Server Stopped, Saved Settings, checked setting was still marked, restarted server. Setting gets unchecked after the server restarts, which is how I expect it to function.

Logged in immediately after and checked the cave of lost faith and a couple of others. For Lost Faith, same issue hundreds of megalodons in each chamber, once your fully inside the cave (can tell by the game stutter and cave lighting) outside of the cave its normal maybe a few packs of 6-8 eels, 4-5 megalodons and the jellyfish which is what I expect to see. Usually expect most cave 'spawns' to be 2-5 pending what they are. The amount we are seeing nearly lags out the server when they activate.

The hundred pack though, if you pull one at distance they all swarm, like they are tagged together. Only way to deal with them is to get them stuck in the wall and slowly move forward dealing with the +8 pack bonus with lots of retreat and healing. Or running the server destroywilddinos command to clean it up, which is just a temporary fix as they continue to just build up.

I have seen players run it on videos without the same over spawning so not sure why its happening on our server. Is there another setting causing cave spawns to be like this? Tied to difficulty setting maybe or some other multiplier? is it just a bug we have to deal with till their fixed? Trying to figure it out for our players that want to run caves without just having them foundation spam the entire cave to stop spawning entirely.

I'm not familiar with how Nitrado handles the server settings, so i can't confirm if the forcewipe you set behaves that way or not.

Only other time i had problems with overspawns was when the server had issues with some creature replacement lines i setup in the game.ini.

We do have a couple of NPC replacements that we were using from the server start due to issues. Since they are no needed anymore I went ahead and removed them (the two were just setup to remove Leeds by the other admin)

Went ahead and did a restart, dino wipe on login, saveworld and then another restart. So far the caves 'look' normal, to how I expect they should. Will check them again later to see if its reduced the dino density after its had a little runtime.

Just got finished checking the caves after the server's been running again and yep every cave just hundreds of their respective dinos just littered wall to wall inside walls. There has to be some kind of setting doing this.

I dont see the issue in single player or even when running dedicated server with default settings. I would start to default settings on the server we have running but afraid of how much it will disrupt with the other players.

Currently having same issue on nitrado server still looking for fix

Anyone found a fix for this? Poked my head into the East water cave with a high level, fully imprinted tuso (50k hp) with 300 armour ascendant saddle and died in about 10 seconds in the first chamber. Couldn't even see the squid due to the massive shark/eel/dunky ball completely surrounding it.

So far I havent been able to find any other fix for this. I dont see this when on Single Player or when running dedicated server. I dont see any information for any server setting that only affects cave spawns like multiplying them.

Outside of the caves everything looks normal pretty much, its just inside caves are over spawned to the point they cant be ran.

Facing the same issue in both water caves and carno cave 100s+ of bats and sharks had my fully imprinted tuso 98k hp 900% atk melted in second followed by my 80k 760 atk basi shredded soon after.

Myself and my brother had a similar problem in the snow cave. We didn't mind so much the amount of enemies in the cave. We took the challenge and killed them systematically. The issue for us was that after killing them we were literally watching them spawn back in 10 meters away when we took a few more steps forward. It made the cave impossible, not to mention immersion breaking. When I looked up what was going on, people were saying "Place structures as you go to prevent spawns", which isn't a solution to me. I don't want to feel like I'm playing fortnite. Yea make the caves difficult with large amounts of high level mobs, I can accept that, but don't spawn them back 10 seconds after we kill them. That's just retarded.

I agree, foundation spam/blocking spawns shouldn't be the solution either. We don't want to stop the caves from spawning. Ultimately its the only suggestion/answer I have received though.

To me it seems like the cave spawner, spawns, then checks on its timer if it needs to spawn and just spawns again regardless how much is already spawned. I've watched new sharks spawn in the next room before even clearing. We also tried slowly pulling through a cave but they were respawning in the next room faster than we were willing to pull them out to fight them at 10-15 at a time.

I also heard this was an original problem on ASE as well that needed to be fixed so my guess is its the same issue only with ASA.
