Can't connect to LAN Server
I set up a server on a Windows 10 Pro computer attached to my home network. I used steamcmd to install the server. The batch file works, the server launches, I get the Server Console window, I get all the messages that the map has loaded. Everything looks good. I launch the client on my main gaming machine and no matter what I try, it will not connect to the server running on the other machine. I can't get the server to show up on any of the in game server lists.

I have tried adding the server through the steam server favorites. I type in the IP address and the port number and it fails to find the server. It says there are no servers running on my LAN. I have tried using the "open 10.1.1.XXX:7777" console command from within the game, that does not work.

I have added port exceptions in the windows firewall and that did not work. I have completely disabled the windows firewall and that did not work either. I have even turned off the windows firewall on my client machine and my router, still no go.

I have tried installing steam and using the steam client version, that doesn't work

I thought that maybe the server wasn't actually running, so I copied the entire installation into an identical directory on my client machine and launched it. The server starts up and I can connect to it by using the console command "open 127.0.0.1". The server runs like it is supposed to, but the only way for me to connect to it is to use the console command. I can not get it to show up on the unofficial server list or add it to steam favorites.

I know that the initial computer that I set up the server on is visible on the network because I use it for network dive shares and it is a headless machine that I connect to through remote desktop. All of which work fine. The machine is an almost clean install of Windows 10 Pro. Other than the ark server, only Chrome and Notepad++ have been installed on the machine. Everything is up to date and I have even tried the second ethernet port on the motherboard. The machine is assigned a static IP address so I know I have that correct.

I have tried assigning port numbers both through the batch file and inserted directly into the gameusersettings.ini.

I have tried searching through the forums but I haven't seen any posts with this type of problem or that suggest anything I haven't already tried.

I am just about at my wits end trying to get this working. I'm hoping someone out there can help me out.

If your server is password protected make sure you have "password protected" servers checked. Conversely, if you don't have a password, make sure it isn't checked.

or

Your ports aren't forwarded properly or your router/isp is blocking them. The Steam servers list still does not work at all with this game. So it has to be visible on the internet for the official in-game browser to find it. It will connect via lan once you find it there though.

I have tried both password protected and non protected, no difference. I figure that not showing up in the server list may be related to my ISP. I'm on starlink and my router does not have a public IP address. So I have mostly given up on getting it to show in the list of servers. But since I just want the server for me and my wife on the local LAN, that is not an issue. None of this explains why I can't directly connect to the server using the console command and the IP address with computers on the same LAN. Port forwarding shouldn't matter. I have the ports forwarded regardless and still can't see it from within the network.

I have the same issue, I can see the server opening the port with netstat and the firewall on the computer is off. Not trying to go outside my network. I’ve also used the open 192.168.x.y:7777 and get nothing. Anyone have anything else they can suggest ?

Just begun to have the same exact issues. Tried all the things:
- Reset and Reinstall Ethernet Drivers;
- Reset and Reboot Router;
- Reboot Game & PC;
- Port Forwarding;

Don't know what to do next.

Funny enough, or coincidence... I had the local servers setup and working before the recent updates, specifically before the winterwonderland event. Don't know what caused all of this, though will choose to believe it is intentional sabotage to force local hosters into purchasing a Nitrado server.

Not far fetched with such morally questionable and corrupt institutions, wildcard and nitrado building out a monopoly around the ASA game.

To find my server I have to check the box in the bottom right corner that says player dedicated server Nitrado wanted to separate their servers from players so make sure you have that box checked and i usually have to check, un-check and check again to get my server to appear

I'm also having the same issue. I have tried running a local network server using the Steamcmd command and bat files. Initially tried as a Beta on Unraid server using ich777 excellent Dockers but would not show server on local lan. Tried as @Frozztt did above with steam client firewall on off etc but no luck. So I then tried on a windows 11 machine going through same tests as @Frozztt still no go then tried on a Windows 10 machine with same results. In all cases there are no errors or warnings and server shows as started successfully in logs and using netstat can see port is listening for connections. I can only presume something has changed with update. Also to add Ark evolved server is picked up on local lan without any issues. I know some people on forums have said memory available needs to be 10-14Gb but my server has 12 cores and 48GB ram, so resources are not the issue. If anybody as any ideas , they will be gratefully received

Still doesn't show in Steam. The only way to find it is with the in-game search engine

Okay major update. It's a mix of a lot of things

1. The steam server list does not work. For whatever reason if it won't show up in game menue it WILL NOT show up on the steam list. So no internet no lan

2. A big fix was port forwarding. I forgot to port forward the game to the internet cause I wasn't worried about internet play. But tied into fix 1 is if you don't port forward it won't show on the in game menue.

3. You do need to check, unchecked, and recheck player servers. If you just load the game and search it won't come up. Doing this will refresh the game for player servers and if step 1 and 2 are followed this will make the server show up on the ingame list

Other than that the basic youtube tutorial works fine

How did you configure your port forwards?
You must forward 7777-7778 UDP and 27015 TCP to the host machine even if you're accessing from same subnet.

Note* I've never had to un/re check the show player box but I do have to search by name every time and favorites is basically useless.

I have the same problem, I have created an ASA server on my desktop, Ports are open and forwarded on both the internet and the local machine.
Ports: 7777-7778 TCP/UDP and 27015 TCP/UDP
The interesting part is that when someone try to connect to my ARK ASA server from the internet, it just gets timed out.
We use the "open <Wan IP>:7777" command to connect.
But once I connect from the same machine I "open 127.0.0.1:7777" in the same second the internet player can execute the "open <Wan IP>:7777" and connect...!!!???
We did not wait to test this threshold, but connecting from internet gets disabled some time later while we play.
But gets re-available every time I open the connection on the localhost with the loopback address (127.0.0.1), it does not work with local IP or internet IP on the same machine.
Anyone has any real idea (I mean no guessing please :) ), what should cause this?

I have the same issue now that i moved my server to a new PC a few weeks ago(also win10 Pro), exported all data en firewall rules, changed the set IP to the new device, no solution. Been troubleshooting the connection, portforwarding, Reinstalled windows again and created a fresh new server install wihout mods, only to get it to update and start without error messages and unable to find the server on local Lan or on the server list.
On this new computer i have a Enschrouded server running without issue.
only thing i can think of is sabotage on new servers?

Try looking for it on Battlemetrics?
Vig May 18, 2024 @ 12:09pm
For instance.. my servers are sessioname Vigs clustered blah blah blah yours would be what you set it up with in your bat file.... If it is not in battlemetrics then it ain`t port forwarded correctly
Vig May 18, 2024 @ 12:14pm
you can also search for it on steam using the session name.. don`t have to type all the session name just enough to distiguish it... and forgive me if i am being over simplistic, it sometimes is the simplest mistakes that causes the issues.. just trying to help.
