Is there a way to tell what killed your dinos?
I am solo PVE, was building a second base and came back to my home base and all my aquatic dinos were dead. all but a lone turtle in the center of them which was unhurt. it was on neutral. 6 or 7 sharks all pretty high level and 4 dolphins. nothing around just their bodies floating in water.. what happened.. heh

So was reading some others in discussion and they had something similar at place called herbivore island. So was this a bug? I was not on a island was in a start area in a river...

fast travel seems to cause the water to 'unrender' for lack of a better term before the creatures do. so it seems the game thinks they are "out of the water" and kills them.

if you have transitioned from your raft (or iceberg or tame or ..) into deep water but instead the game acted like you jumped off a flyer .. as you fall to the ocean floor and die, then youve experienced this first hand. btw if you have this issue .. parachutes work till the water kicks back in..

now that you know .. dont fast travel to or from your water bases .. Me I dont fast travel anywhere, I fly on a tame. and I havent tested the Teleporters yet .. because i havnt killed that boss yet =þ .

When looking at the tribe log.
was Killed! = starved to death or killed by mesh or water creature died from going outside water.
Baby creatures gets "starved to death" if they starve.
was killed by a ... lvl ... = killed by a creature.

I think those are the main ways they can die.

Seems like it is bad to teleport to water tames because it can kill them. I have not had any water tames die yet but I teleport 850 meter away from my water tames.
I think using follow on water tames near surface can also kill them.
If you play single player don't leave any tames in caves or they fall through the world if you leave and re-enter because the cave isn't loaded when you exit which causes them to fall.

I crashed earlier and was killed in log.. then tamed 2 ovi's. 1 of which died 20mins later, was killed. No other info. On pve modded official. Without more info there is no way of knowing what "killed" means.. could be a mesh issue.. but I have 2 moschops on wander for 2 days, they're fine, i put 2 ovi on wander and 1 is killed within 20mins.

thanks for the response I was using a mod that gives you a teleport ability if you build it. My water tames were pretty far away from the teleporter. My question for those in the know is there a range so that you can use the teleport and not kill them? I can position them far away from the teleporter if that will cure the problem but if it just kills them from across the map would be good to know b4 i start trying to find more water tames. That is for sure what happened btw because i had a turtle in the middle of them and it was fine.

turtles, frogs and barry water tames should be ok as they can go on Land and Water (sharks and dolphins cannot).

and as much as i am reluctant to use Mods right now .. Cryopod your water tames ..

never used cryopods guessing will try that mod out then because the teleport was very cool. hah RIP my dophins and sharks...

If you do install Mods, make sure.. Absolutely sure they are up to date before logging in. else a fridge of cryopod stored dinos could vanish. and that also is sad.

In the old days it would be something like S+ didnt update and on login you get to see 90+% of your base crumble away before your eyes.. That is why i am reluctant to use Mods.

Had this happen to me, lost 12 level 150 Argys and some Rexes... Please make sure you keep the mod updated!
