Game won't stop in steam

After exiting the game it just stays there saying "stopping" forever and I have to close steam for it to actually close the game and even then it takes a while.

Close steam and restart it ? Will also update any patches for games you own.

I HAVE to close steam and restart it every time I exit the game since last update. That's the point of the post. I can't stop the game from running without exiting steam. Went to re log an hour after exiting and realized it was stuck on "stopping" the game in steam but there was no process for Ark running on my computer.

Has anyone found a fix to this yet? having to wait 5 minutes for steam to shut down every time you need to restart ark is annoying, especially if you can't safely log off in your base.

you can open up task manager and end arkascended.exe or it might be called shootergame.exe

I'll try this next time, but I couldn't find it in there, couldn't find shootergame, arkascended or battleeye/BE.
Edit: I've tested it by hitting exit in the ark menu & even by force closing ark on task manager, both still result in it saying it's still running on steam and requires closing steam to relaunch the game. There is nothing at all that mentions BE, ark or shootergame running, as soon as I close ark, both the arkascended and arkascendedBE fully close down in task manager. Only thing that's changed since it stopped working was a big ark update and GPU update.

I am having the exact same problem and task manager doesn't fix it. Seems like Wild Card needs to get on their P's and Q's and fix the problem.

Doesn`t stop in taskmanager, you sure? Right mouse it and `end task`? always stops for me, and yes it is an annoying bug

bad ram or bad hdd
test them first. is the cpu overheating 70c+

When you go into task manager you should notice that when you look at the "Apps" list ArkAscended will be listed there. When you kill it, ArkAscended moves from the "Apps" list to the "Background processes" list. It then stays there and might even stop the computer from restarting correctly.

Because of this thread I now know that you can close Steam and it will close the background process, but that is really bad for the app not to close when you kill it. For me after closing Steam BattlEye doesn't start the second time so I have to restart.
