Noob questions about breeding and mutations
just started to breed and got questions:

1. so the three numbers on dinos like (10-5-5) are wild dino points-mutations-player points, right?

2. lets say i mate a level 1 and a level 100 dino, that could result in a baby dino with level 1-100 ? does dino level matter when breeding or are the stats more important?

3. is it always better to breed with high level dinos?

4. is it better to breed with leveled dinos? lets say i got a wild lvl 100 dino, level it up to 130 and put all points in health...does this matter when mating it with another dino?

thanks for all info

cant answer everything but
it is much better to breed with leveled dinos who have all their xp put into specific stats, even though the baby wont have those bonus levels it will have a strong stat affinity and gain a truck ton more stat increase per level on that stat

I know that some people advocated low level dinos because that way you can be sure of less wasted points in things like food and oxygen.

I have heard though, that ASA changed things up with breeding, so I don't know how much is true anymore, but if you google "ARK Dino Breeding" you can get a ton of results with some of the old breeding guides, some of which are pretty extensive.

As for ASA specific breeding changes, I don't know as there's a full compilation of changes or an updated guide yet.

1. Yup

2. No. A dino's level is made up of the stats it had upon taming; level doesn't matter, but stats do and they're what adds up to make the level. So let's say your Lvl 1 dino had oxygen: 1. Your other, level 100 dino had, let's say, 20 hp, 20 melee, 20 food, 20 stam, 20 weight. The child could inherit all the level 100's stats + the 1 oxygen for a level of 101. Or it could inherit the 0 oxygen from the level 100 and the 0 everything else from the level one, and be a level one dino. Or it could be anywhere in between.

3. No. Find dinos with the specific stats you need. A high-level dino with 50 oxygen is useless unless you're going ocean caving. A mid-level dino with 33 melee is good by comparison, but not something you're going to commonly find. High levels are just good to get an idea of the POTENTIAL stat distribution. Ex. you won't find a dino that tames out with 45 melee (for ex. boss rexes) if you're looking at level 40 dinos, or even 80 or 100. To see specific stats you'd need a spyglass mod or tek binocs, or to tame the dino and use an online stat calculator.

4. Levels gained after taming DO NOT pass on to offspring. So if you have a level 150 that tames out at 224, the 224 stats will be the ones to pass on. If you add 10 levels later, those DO NOT pass on.
