Choppy, jerky, jittery dino riding experience
Hi there,
I have a situation where I cannot ride smooth any Dino anymore, it is jumping, shifting from front to back left to right. Here is a small video of it: https://youtu.be/WsoYB63H6qA
If anyone has any idea, please share.
Thanks

Server or single-player?
Looks like rubber-banding.

There's also something vaguely similar that happens if you collide with an invisible mesh, but usually that puts you back where you started and not forward like that.

Looks like a bad connection to the server, or a host with a bad connection. What you are likely seeing is rubber banding. Pretty common in games without proper optimization.

If this experience is game breaking, I would recommend waiting a few months until they get this stuff ironed out. Some immediate alternatives would be switching to single player or playing on a non-dedicated server.

With that said, I want to advise a word of caution playing on a non-dedicated server. Host tethering is an option that can't be modified by much (to my knowledge) and greatly alters the way you experience the game. You can only be a certain distance away from the host before you're forcefully pulled back to them, thus completely ruining the sense of exploration and freedom. You're basically the prisoner of the host and it is a far worse experience because of that.

It is an Unofficial Server and I have 100 hours in it, i would like to continue.
So you guys don't think it is ARK ASA issue, but the particular server?

That or your internet connection are the most likely.

Any idea what your ping is at? And is it just a Nitrado server?

My internet connection is roughly 1100 MBs, my ping is ~100, and no, not a Nitrado server

100 ms is unusual for Ark.
What kind of server is this?

This looks like what happens to me. I have to fast travel or die/respawn every time I load the game to eliminate the rubber banding. I have no idea why, but it remedies the issue for me.

Yep. It's the only fix for this. The game needs to be reset from within the game.. it's like the positioning data isn't being sent correctly until you do this. Either teleport between beds or suicide should fix it. Until you relog due to a crash at least :)

lol, you summed it all up. I have two beds next to each other. My routine is to load up, teleport from one bed to another, and play without issue until purple rain comes calling. Could be 10 minutes, could be 60. The ark gods are mysterious in their poorly coded ways.
