Wild baby dinos

So, I came across a Wild Rex and her baby and so I took the baby a semi short distance to my base to keep it safe and then I went and hunted the mom. When I went back to claim the wild baby, it was gone. Is there like a despawn thing if its a certain distance away. It was just over a 1,000 m away. Any ideas what happened?

Wrong you didn't do this... cannot "Take" the baby until the parent is Tamed/Killed.

I should rephrase that. I kidnapped the baby. I swung down on my Argy and kidnapped the baby Rex

As a different experiment, if you had taken the parent, and ignored the baby. Then left the render range of the parent and returned, the baby would magically be near the parent.

Likely then that as the baby you dropped off left your render range it teleported back to the parent. It could've been killed while you killed the parent or is still scampering around where you killed the parent.

That's exactly what happened I think, unless it was a brand new baby and mama. Thanks a lot man
