How much fortitude?
I see people saying this stat is bugged but considering torpor effects etc. what is a good number to put into fortitude. I have absolutely no idea its just a number to me I don't know how effective it is. I have 40 atm.

I don't PVP but need to survive scary diseases and such.

Count 40 is a good amount for this. You may go to 50, but that seems enough.

For the whacky temperature fluctuations ATM I usually go to between 60 and 80.

Depending if you use stim properly (i.e. pop one every troodon/snake hit) then I've done well with just 5 pts or so.

it only seems to somehow affect torport. but ur ♥♥♥♥♥♥ pretty fast unless you got stim anyway. i got 30 and it does basicly ♥♥♥♥ all

40 will drastically slowdown the water consumption at 55c. or the food consumption at -50.

Every point in it means you get like 2 insulation points (When you look into inventory, in the middle, heat/cold tolerance)

in snow -50c fur head, gloves and shoes + basic shirt and pants, will be enough.. You can even wear this at 55c degrees at the cost of a little increase of water, still have big flame icon, but you never get blurred out, does this game even have heatstroke?

Or tame and wear an Otter. After level up the Otter, to 80 / 100 you can visit the snow biom without clothes. 😄

I have 50 and I still can't escape extreme heat from heat waves even if I'm standing inside a building wearing only cloth. I have to stand in the water until the wave finishes.

Fortitude is broken it doesn't work.
Xandor Nov 19, 2023 @ 10:20am
I have 56 Fortitude and Ghille Chest armor and other armor pieces more for armor.

Temperature is not really an issue for me, I was overheating when it was +62 on carno island for a little while but that was the only issue I have had recently (and then I was wearing my bad ghille chest armor, with just ~30 heat resist, got my 177.7 heat resist 46.7 cold resist chest armor now so might even do well at that temperature).

It's not broken, but the official rates make it seem that way. If you have 100+ fortitude, it will take 1 extra normal club swing to knock you down. Once down, you will stand up much quicker.

In terms of temperature, it will make you have normal temps more often in high end flak armor.

In my honest opinion, on an unmodded server, having 20-40 fortitude is plenty so long as you carry stims and wear the proper armor for the climate you are entering. Having 0 will be fine as well, but a bit more annoying on the temp fluctuations. It is such a small benefit in terms of torpor to base your fortitude decisions on that. So 100+ is silly.

You'll have a much easier time dumping into health than into torpor. If you get KO'd by a player, even for a second, you're toast. Fortitude won't help you there.

If you get bitten by a snake etc., 1 stimulant will fix you right up. Way better than dumping into fort.

350 health, 200 melee (makes your clubs and swords more potent), 200 stam (more than plenty, 150 is even fine), 120 movement, rest weight (or oxygen if you plan to swim) is the way. If you want to be on foot and be dangerous, focus heavier on HP and melee damage. The only exception is if you are on a brand new server. When facing even levelled and geared opponents, melee dmg and speed (mostly speed) will make you far more potent compared to your peers. Weight is what you need to sack to make that happen.

I hate fighting with temps, so I run around with 150 fortitude. I could get by with a lot less if I wanted to bother carrying a wardrobe with me every everywhere I go. As others have said, an otter makes a huge difference as well, so you could get by with a lot less if you tame one.

Do you even know what you are talking about. What the hell does fortitude have to with being knocked down. Fortitude is a measure of your resistance to the Weather.

I have tested this out and with say like 5000 fortitude. If that stat was working right you shouldn't get hot or cold right. So the way I see it. That stat doesn't work the way it should.

It does affect torpor also, based on wiki each point of fortitude adds 1 point of torpor needed to pass out (base is 50 so with 30 fortitude you get knocked out at 80 torpor).

I leveled up fortitude when cold and it made me stop being cold as I put points into fortitude so it does work, not sure if it is some cap or something but each point should give 4.5 cold/heat resist (or it was in ASE, not sure if it is same number in ASA but I assume so).

20 is enough lol
Sixgun Nov 19, 2023 @ 11:55am
I am not talking about torpor. I am saying that fortitude is not giving resistance to the weather like it should. So yes it is broken.
