2k vs 4k - my experience GTX 4070 laptop - is 4k worth it?
I have been playing on 2k; graphics are on medium setting. Looks good, runs great between 40-60 FPS.
I tried out ASA on my 85 IN 4k tv. Same medium setting. Looks slightly better, water and skins improved, but only getting 10 FPS
This is my first UE5 game. Are future games going to have this much performance discrepancy between 4K and 2K. I was considering buying a 4k monitor, but if the performance in 4k is gonna be this bad, I will stick with 2k

2k is 1080p Full HD. Learn this first before starting to lecture people.

Wait What? I wasn't lecturing, i was asking advice/opinion from people who are more knowledgeable than me.
WOW shots fired at a white flag asking for help.
Will future UE5 games, specifically will my RTX 4070 laptop be able to run 4k smoothly?
Or will I end up playing on 2k for performance reasons?

First of, ignore that other guy, everyone knows what you mean by 2K/4K :)

As for 4K gaming in general, I still don't think we're quite there yet hardware wise, but will of course be different from game to game and what FPS you're happy with.
Did you try old ARK in 4K btw? I haven't bothered with a 4K monitor yet so no idea how it would perform there.

I did try Ark in the 4K TV. looks better, water is very nice, skins are very detailed. All on medium setting, BUT only got 10 FPS. Now thanks to this help post above. i will instead buy a new desk top with a better graphics card than my RTX 4070 laptop I just bought. Thanks for the help.

No worries, 4K gaming is not a cheap option, but generally desktops would be the way to go still.
Not that I wouldn't mind a 4070 laptop :D

You can always buy a 4K display and still play games in lower resolution. 2K shouldn't be blurry on them because 4 pixels just group together to form a 2k pixel. The "compromise" QHD 1440p however might lose some sharpness with small text or high contrast UI elements. Some games deal better with non-native resolutions than others.

Thanks, I dint know that 2k does look different on a 4k display. But now I have the excuse to buy a new desktop for the wife since she is the one who got the 4k TV
