Would like to see that one brought in.
Thats kinda what I was feeling. I never played the Island more than 30 hours on ASE cause kinda boring. Would love to be playing another map right now. Crashes and all. Just the island AND crashed/roll backs. meh 60 hours playtime seems enough for now
Ditto
Ragnarok was the best map for ASE. Very large, very diverse, very challenging, very cool.
I really like the design of the island from an aesthetic perspective, but it's a pain in the butt to travel on land animals. I'm tempted to only use my Argy's for everything because getting around is tough with some of the land animals. Some trips aren't too bad but traversing certain areas of the map feels like a waste of time or overly burdensome.
Ragnarok and Scorched Earth were easier to travel if my memory serves. The ocean was way better in Ragnarok also, it was big and full of useful things. The craftable chainsaw was another nice perk of the other two maps. I hardly did The Center map so I can't even remember enough to comment on it.
All in all, I like the Island but I feel like it's less convenient. But, it is a survival game so that could be seen as a plus:)
Definitely my favourite map too. I find the Island pretty boring because when Ark launched in 2015 I spent many, many hours there. So much so I'm pretty much sick of the sight of it.
"So for now, we're going to plan that Scorched Earth will be coming to ASA in December this year, Ragnarok and Aberration will follow in Q1 2024" was what they said a few months back.
I think that all three of those are great in their own way. I would choose Scorched over Rag first though, simply because it's so different to The Island and you're forced to live in the desert, with all the weather that I love to hate.
Bet you that won't be the first one despite being most popular, lol. This company sucks.
I doubt that it's the same team/employees that will be working on the map design, as will be working on the console release and PC patches.
That said, SE does have some unique items, creatures and weather that might need the same people involved. Server Transfers could also come into play.
So, I think there's less reason to presume a delay on that front, but you never know. Fingers crossed they stay fairly on track with it, I presume it will perform a lot better due to the absence of so many trees, something the community would love.
