Is scorched earth a better map? Which next map would be preferred? Ragnarok?
Kinda bored and frustrated with the island. 60 hours in, too many roll backs to keep grinding.
If the game gets "fixed" in regards to crashes, etc. Is scorched earth a better map? My personal fav was ragnorak.

loved Ragnarok.
Would like to see that one brought in.

Scorched Earth is a better map if you like a challenge but the problem with that and aberration was the difficulty spike that turned off a lot of players. I personally would rather play the next three story DLCs any day over the island because the island is honestly just boring.

Thats kinda what I was feeling. I never played the Island more than 30 hours on ASE cause kinda boring. Would love to be playing another map right now. Crashes and all. Just the island AND crashed/roll backs. meh 60 hours playtime seems enough for now

Ditto

Ragnarok was the best map for ASE. Very large, very diverse, very challenging, very cool.

I'm really interested in this topic and what other people think.

I really like the design of the island from an aesthetic perspective, but it's a pain in the butt to travel on land animals. I'm tempted to only use my Argy's for everything because getting around is tough with some of the land animals. Some trips aren't too bad but traversing certain areas of the map feels like a waste of time or overly burdensome.

Ragnarok and Scorched Earth were easier to travel if my memory serves. The ocean was way better in Ragnarok also, it was big and full of useful things. The craftable chainsaw was another nice perk of the other two maps. I hardly did The Center map so I can't even remember enough to comment on it.

All in all, I like the Island but I feel like it's less convenient. But, it is a survival game so that could be seen as a plus:)

Definitely my favourite map too. I find the Island pretty boring because when Ark launched in 2015 I spent many, many hours there. So much so I'm pretty much sick of the sight of it.

I want Lost Island, purely because I miss the Sinomacrops. There's no chance that would be the next map.

"So for now, we're going to plan that Scorched Earth will be coming to ASA in December this year, Ragnarok and Aberration will follow in Q1 2024" was what they said a few months back.

I think that all three of those are great in their own way. I would choose Scorched over Rag first though, simply because it's so different to The Island and you're forced to live in the desert, with all the weather that I love to hate.

see i never got the love for Ragnarok myself. I tried and tried to get into it but never really could as resources were everywhere, same with all the modded maps made by players - always to easy to get started and thrive.

I enjoyed SE a lot however disconnects over the Wyvern Trench = everything guaranteed gone. I am not going near that trench until the game is stable.

I personally played The Island with my homies and Valguero solo. I liked Valguero it has interesting challenges like building a base in the abberation cave. Building a base in the Arctic. Getting Ice Wyvern eggs. I made a public Ice Wyvern trap which was like a crab pot design. The AI could fly in but not back out. It even had stairs to a platform so you could plink them with tranqs at just the right distance their breath couldn't get you. Loved Valguero.

ASE still exists and is gonna be the best/only way to do that for quite a while, unfortunately. I'd be pretty surprised if Scorched Earth released before 2024 but you never know. I bet they have their hands full with console release right now and that'll likely take up all of their time until it's done.

Scorched Earth is horrible, I love it! It's actually one of my favorite maps. I can't wait to get my swamp kitty (Kaprosuchus) and go raptor grabbin'.

+1 for Ragnarok
Bet you that won't be the first one despite being most popular, lol. This company sucks.

I doubt that it's the same team/employees that will be working on the map design, as will be working on the console release and PC patches.

That said, SE does have some unique items, creatures and weather that might need the same people involved. Server Transfers could also come into play.

So, I think there's less reason to presume a delay on that front, but you never know. Fingers crossed they stay fairly on track with it, I presume it will perform a lot better due to the absence of so many trees, something the community would love.

It seems the dev team deals with bugs and crashed by issuing new content. Look at the release of extinction 1 and 2. The team pushed massive content without fixing basic problems. My guess is we get SE before we get massive over hauls that fix the current state.
