how to build foundations on uneven ground without S+ Structures?

Does anyone know how to do this properly or can point me to a video where it shows how to do it for this years building mechanic? It's so hard building a base floor where the land underneath is uneven. There will be a point where I just can't get the next foundation to snap to this higher previous foundation and its doing my nut in. I've been trying with pillars and ceiling technique for hours, but nothing I do is working. Iv had a look at a few older ASE videos, but it seems the middle pillar now does not move up and down on the snapping point.

I've been placing the foundation lower then using half walls and ceiling parts to even things out.

so using a ceiling attached to the half wall instead of a foundation?
