Here is how to prevent crashing
So I thought I would create a thread where we can share how to prevent crashing. I will start with a sure fire way that perhaps not everyone knows that doing this will cause a crash immediately or within a few mins of doing so.

1. Changing graphics settings! Do not do this in game without saving your game first! I have experimented a lot with this, if you change settings then save and continue playing your chance of having a crash withing the next minute is almost assured. If you are going to change graphic settings save before then restart after applying your settings. Do not continue playing!!!

Anyone else have helpful hints to avoid crashing? post here please.

Tried the following

1. Turning down the graphics
2. Turning off RTX and menu animations
3. Rolling back Nvidia drivers
4. Using the back up save
5. Turning it off and back on again

been going on 18 days still CTD just report the game on steams store page a broken...

Also turn off Foliage interaction. That one has been causing crashes for some users.

I used the refund option works great now lol
Foliage interaction worked ok for me until the last update. Rocks now appear floating in terrain and I crash as early as the loading screen. Or two minutes after loading. Anyone else able to fix?

Idk what is making it crash but I didn't have a single crash for first 30 hours. After that I had ~1 crash every 10 hours. Now I haven't had a crash for ~30 hours I think.

I use the commands:
r.VolumetricCloud 0
r.VolumetricFog 0

And I read it mentioned that this command might work, I used it after the last time I crashed and haven't crashed since, idk if just a coincidence:
ark.VertexCountScaling 1

Also I try to track as few of my tames as I can. Not sure if it affects crashing but I crashed when I had many tracked.

I play on a 1080ti gpu, my graphics settings:
1920x1080, 90 resolution scale, advanced graphics medium, anti aliasing epic, view distance epic, textures high, post processing medium, general shadows high, global illumination quality medium, effects quality medium, foilage quality low (turned it down to see things in the grass, I like it on epic tho), motion blur off, light bloom off, light shafts off, low light enhancement off, enable foilage on, 0.5 interaction distance and limits, footstep particles off, footstep decals off, disable hlod off, gui 3d widget quality 0.5, nvidia dlss off, frame generation off, nvidia reflex low latency on

The biggest change ive found that helped eliminate crashes for me personally is to tick the fps limiter box. bouncing in and out of menus can cause your system to go bonkers. The second was r.streaming.poolsize command in the console. adding a 0 at the end removes any kind of limiters set by the title. currently running 60 fps solid on a i5 9700 with a 2070 super, 32gb ram

Try turning off menu transitions.

Disabling: Enable foliage & Fluid interaction
Window mode: Full screen

That stopped my crashes. Now the biggest problem is horrible lag spikes, dead bodies hitting boxes are usually off the body, floating rocks in the mountains and hyper motivated Sharks and Leeds

comp:
AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3970X 32-Core Processor
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090
RAM-: 65408 Mt

Looks like i got rid off the lag spikes using these console commands:
r.volumetricfog 0 = Disables Fog
r.VolumetricCloud 0 = Disables Clouds

World even looks better now.

i was having a terrible time crashing and kept turning stuff on / off / down trying to take load off, but then i turned dlss off completely, turned resolution scaling up to 100% (2560x1440p) and turned most of the settings to high / medium (they were all low by this point) and not only has it not crashed but the visual quality is waaaaaaay better and the frame rate while not higher, is certainly more consistent and more playable. (r5700x, 32Gb, RTX3070)

turning down the textures helps for me, since textures require a lot of vram and if your GPU doesn't have a lot of GPU.. say 8 GB. you're going to get an exception access violation if you run out of VRAM.

AMD GPU/CPU i run with all the bells and whistles on now, but i allow the AMD software to run the application settings. After i did this i can play 8 hours straight no issues except the odd FPS drop for a second.

Seems like the majority of the issues sprouting up is nVidia users (thats not a slight on players with nVidia) just noticing a large majority of the people with severe crashing issues are sporting nVidia GPUs

Mileage may vary, just my 2 cents is all.

I have completely solved my crashing by never allowing the gpu usage to sit at 99% at any time. I have done this by lowering settings and setting my fps limit to 60fps. My usage hovers around 40% - 95% usage depending on where I am in the map and time of day, weather, etc. The only time I get crashes is when it is at 99% gpu usage for a long period of time.

I dunno about u guys or if this was said or not... but for me I did some commands that have made me not crash at all for hours now. for 1, I made sure the menu transistion settings was on so there's no animation and 2. I typed
r.VolumetricCloud 0
r.VolumetricFog 0
both worked for me hope it helps. at least keep it stable enough to play until they patch it.
