Can we get a demo
Kind of scared to buy in given the amount of reviews stating performance issues. From the company that gave us the 300Gb install I'm not really willing to give them the benefit of the doubt on performance issues.

That said, did love Ark, so hopefully they can resolve it.

You know you can refund any game on Steam no questions asked within 14 days of purchase and less than 2 hours of play, yeah? Absolutely no need for a demo in this day and age

You'll probably end up needing to edit the .ini files to reduce or remove some graphics settings in the game if you don't already have a High End gpu.

With a 6950xt I was able to get 70-90 FPS SOLO, but I had to Turn on Amd Fluid Motion Frames at 1440P Epic settings, the only 2 things I lowered were Shadows and Global Illumination from Epic to High. This is at 100% resolution scale btw and AMD has no upscale. All they have in the game currently is DLSS.

Even an rtx3080 you will struggle big time unless you put everything to medium and or edit the .ini file and possibly on top of that have a very low Screen Resolution Percentage.

No demo because then you'd be able to find out how disgusting it is, even compared to the other crappy game, ASE. Just download it, there are many places out there that have helped the masses.

Hey Derivat949, I would rather not abuse the return policy, I think an updated demo might be a better way to show the changes/optimisations made over time than repurchasing/refunding.

Thanks Jrm that's really helpful information, I'm on a 2060, so I'm going to def hold off if it's struggling pm a 3080.

That's hardly abusing it lmao, there's literally a "This game's framerate is too low" refund option

The game itself is way better than the servers. Nitrado is straight ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥.

And for a open world game 2 hours isnt enough to decide that. Also there's that bug with steam where games crash but never shut off unless pc is restarted. Will easily go over 2 hours that way.

He already knows Ark so literally all he would need to test is performance/crashes. And that's a pretty specific thing to happen lol. If we're making up such specific reasons as to why OP couldn't simply try the game for 110 minutes, shut it off and decide whether he wants to refund or not I could tell you 100 other scenarios were he somehow manages to go over the refund window.

best thing to do is wait a while until there fix alots of bugs the game in EA so prob better to wait till it out of that EA

I do really think there should be a demo so people make sure they can get it to run. I'm not sure how to make a demo of a game like this, but it can probably be done.

Just looking at the spec requirements to see if it runs... that's not really good enough

I don't think the 2 hours is long enough either because the player may want to look up fixes and optimizations to get the game to run and they may take more than the 2 hour window. There's tons of different things you can try in order to make the game run better/smoother.

I'm running a GTX 1660 Ti, which is close the minimum. It works fine with most graphics settings on low. I get 40 to 50 FPS which I'm happy with.

The game seems to not support all graphics cards equally, so you would need to compare your system with someone who has the same graphics card to know how it will work (or just try it out for less than two hours).

if we get a demo many ppl would buy ASA bc it runs on the island, but i bet alot of ppl aren´t able to play on aberration, the only acceptable demo must be an aberration demo which isn´t released yet

edit: best example post above mine, if you get 40-50 fps on the island with an 1660ti, i bet you can´t run aberration, i once had the same problem with ASE

There won't be a demo. It would take you less than two hours to see if your computer can handle it, simply refund before 2 hours. It's a remaster of ark ase so you know what it's about. If it crashes just make sure you kill it off in task manager.

Thing is, you already stated you aren't willing to buy in and not willing to give them the benefit of the doubt due to all the bad reviews, do why worry about a demo.
