problems updating?

is anyone else having the worst time updating the game?? i have been trying to for hours. it starts by taking maybe 40 min to patch the game. then it goes to updating but won't get past 2%. I have enough storage space for the update. When i go to the update screen where it shows how fast it is updating, there's no info on the update speed. it doesn't look like anything is happening :(

i dont even bother trying anymore, i just uninstall then reinstall.

i can confirm that the 2% thing is just a visual bug, it does update but can take fuggin eons! easier and way quicker for me to just reinstall the whole game.

This has NOTHING to do with Ark. I have many Unreal Engine games that do this on Steam. This is a STEAM issue but so much easier to just hate Wildcard for something they have NO CONTROL over. They upload the data to Steam servers you download it. Once they upload the data WC has NO ROLE from there on out.

Why is it when people have issues with STEAM they FAIL to report these issue but blame game developers? Are there that many people that do not understand that STEAM is where you get this data from? That WC simply uploads the data and they are DONE!

Anyone notice 6hrs ago or there about no one could reply to any thread? This was not WILDCARD's doing this was STEAM though I am sure someone will argue that FACT.

Mine just says to "resume" updating a 3.06g patch but every time i click on it, it tries before stopping, how to fix without uninstalling and reinstalling :(?

Contact Steam Support. Have anyone you know with the issue do the same. This is a Steam issue but until they are forced to fix the issue with games on the Unreal Game Engine they are not going to.

Fact: Original Ark had all the same issues through all of it's EA period.
Fact: Last Oasis, Conan, Atlas, Myth of Empires, few others not thinking of right now have the same issue.
Fact: this issue is about as old as Epic Game Store or older. That platform was known for a while before launch.

Last time I tried reporting the issue to Steam they told me it was my PC. Well brand new $2200 Alienware PC at about medium level using i11 and 3070 and I still have the issue. It is not my internet as that is a 1GB download. Not my Drive as that is a brand new (Christmas 2022) 4TB SSD. It is not the game or developer as it happens with other games and developers. So what is left? Many games on Steam take longer to install than if you go to Epic and install the same game.

Fact is this is a STEAM issue and will never be solved until we stop giving them a choice but to fix it.

yeah it can't be a me issue, Ark Survival Ascended is the only game that has this issue, its either the game or steam client with said game. I got like 20 games installed and half of em get frequent updates but never have this issue.

I have hundreds of games I try keep updated. And most of time all do fine. But on occasion I have same issue. With different games as well. So yes I seen steam issue before. It is know on many other forums as well. So not a ARK thing but a steam thing.

AndI have a 5K PC and still get issue on rare occasion. And since recently built pc I know the parts fine. And ran tests on them now and then :-) So yes steam isnt non-fallible and can mess up.
