Daeodon food

Been trying to tame a Daeodon and it's food doesn't drop. I've attacked it making it heal before knocking and it stays at cap. When I knock it out food stays full while it slowly dies. Any one have a suggestion?

if i had to guess i would say your wild dino hunger rate stat is fubar, normally a Daeodon eats almost nonstop while taming
