Good base locations PVE

I live on the southeast side of the map, at 76 latitude, 73 longitude. Its on a plateau, cliffs on 3 sides and only one land route onto the plateau, its a great starter base location due to how easy it is to fortify simply by blocking off the one land route there with walls.

But its time to move on. Resources are too far away down here, any journeys to the big mountains or to the arctic will take forever to get to. I want to move closer to the arctic, or at least, closer to the big mountains.

There are a lot of things that make a good base location. Right now, the only requirements i have is for it to be a large flat area where no supply crates/beacons are (cant build near those, found that out which caused me to lose a nice base location). Just a location where i can build my home, and that its somewhere closer to the northwest side of the map (but not in the arctic)

There are things that i would like to have in a base.
Water access helps, so a river connecting to the ocean, or against the ocean
Defensible but still accessible location. So no islands, but a plateau like what i had earlier would be nice
A nice view

I havent really had the chance to do a thorough exploration of the island, turns out spinos, while fast, are kinda not good at getting around due to their size. If anyone knows of a good spot somewhere please let me know. Im not too picky as long as its a large flat area in a good location.

There are many videos about base loacations out there on YT . I'd recommend watching those as some are reallly showing some great spots.

And tame yourself a Sarco, makes travelling in the ocean easy. They are super fast in the water.

I probably should those are fast in the water, i do have a baryonyx and usually my travels are done with that. Fast on land, fast in water, can jump, is strong, my favorite mount (:

There is a river and 2 waterfalls on the west coast just south of the snow. I always clear out the north side of the river between the 2 waterfalls and build there. You have a cliff into the ocean on one side. Behind you is another cliff. River on the south side and the snow zone just north of you. The volcano is just east of there, an easy walk.

I did end up in that area, i actually built a base near there in ASE. Right now, theres a level 85 alpha carno. I can kill it, but i have to send a party out to go get it and moving one across the map is time consuming. im considering that area.

Baryonyx is my favourite dino. They used to be bola-able but they nerfed it because they realised how OP they are. They can go caving and they can stunlock enemies in water. Crazy!

Didnt know they used to be bola affected, thats wild. Also the tail spin in the water seems to have a cooldown on how often it can stun enemies, so you cant spam it but usually all it takes is one stun to kill the enemy.

I lost 7 raptors to one, and it wasnt even that high level, i had a few raptors that were stronger than it but it did not matter lol, those things are stronk.

The IRL dino used to live in the swamps of where England is. No wonder it has crooked crocodile teeth.
