Yes, structures have a soft side. But that only matters for stone, and to a minor extent, wood. The side with the braces is softer, though just barely. Metal does not have a soft side.

Greetings friend, In Ark the material is just as strong from either side.
The weakest is building material is Thatch then Wood. Stone will withstand the attacks from most dino's except for Alphas and Gigas, and Metal is the strongest and will keep you safe .. most of the time, with the exception of large dino's that have a huge attack area (it can clip thru the wall and hurt you/dino/weak building parts etc.)

nothing has a soft side, they are = strong at the same side.
