Main differences between this game and Survival Evolved?
Is there anything new or am I just going back to the same old stuff with remastered graphics and no QOL changes?

Edit to add what has been said so far (thank you, everyone)

1: Same bugs as previous with additional ones (unspecified)

2: Wild dino babies could be seen with their parents (can be tamed easily)

3: Building has been changed, can raise/lower foundations, craft generic wall (with multiple options thereafter), parts can be mirrored/flipped, snapping mechanic on/off

4: Water reservoir/generators work without pipes/wires and now have a certain range for coverage

5: Map has been improved, can add markers, death markers are present on screen

6: Load times for servers have been reduced

There are a few minor changes, but it's pretty much the same game, just much prettier and much buggier.

Mostly minor changes, the building has changed, you now just craft a generic wall for example and you get options to make it a window or doorway.

Baby dinos sometimes are seen with parents. Can blast the parents and steal the babies.

Some of the menus are better, the map is wayyy better. Also they show your last death location on your screen. But that one can be hit or miss because if you die a bunch you no longer see it . Not like ASE where you see all the beams.

Load times are better than before, servers take a few seconds to launch.

Things I can think off the top of my head.

There's quite a bit of new stuff and QoL changes. Foundations can be raised and lowered, walls can also be doorways or windows, parts can be flipped and mirrored, there's some nice snapping mechanics that can be turned on and off.

Water reservoires, generators and such now work without pipes and wires. They have a certain range in which they supply taps and machines. My favorite feature however is wild dinos can now have babies which you can claim after getting rid of their parents.

There is also a reddit post that compiles all found changes,... about 50+, some pretty big ones. You will have to google it yourself tho.

Are you making a complete list? There are at least 13 things different (at least according to a video I watched).

Another is that you can track your dinos continuously. Not just when being tamed. You can also track what it takes to craft an item. It will show you in a little pop up when you have all the items you need.

I'm loving the fast load time. I'm guessing that will get slower as they add more maps, but I still think it will remain quicker than ASE.

The integration of some of the S+ features, like picking up pieces is nice. You can also pick up foundations and all the pieces that normally would be destroyed when you do that are also picked up automatically. This is really cool, especially for traps that you want to pick up quickly.

First day ASA was released, I tried Single Player (since not many unofficial server). Tried several times, but always crashed. Tried again yesterday, worked fine other than one hang when initially creating my character. In between my first attempt and now, I tuned my graphic settings to increase FPS, but not increase it too high. Trick seems to be to get good FPS by lowering settings and disabling some features.

So it does work for most people (50k people playing right now). There are many posts about how to change your graphic settings to prevent crashing. Have you tried that?

For example, when I start Survival Evolved, it does not crash.

This crashes, all the time.

So far, the only time I crash is if my computer gets too hot. I have a gaming laptop that is a little older it runs the game just fine but sometimes gets too hot which makes ASA crash.

Otherwise, I haven't found many bugs yet. The very few I have are just minor annoyances. Although, I will freely admit that some bugs I wouldn't ever notice. I only play either single player or with a few friends in one tribe. So any bugs that would be like meshing or something like I probably won't ever see or notice.

Overall, I do feel like ASA is an improvement over ASE; however, they do still have a lot of work to make it more stable and to add all the existing content from ASE back into ASA. I am really looking forward to several of the maps being added into ASA.

Have fun with ASA or ASE everyone!

A great number of improvements overall. Better graphics and complexity of the images, the distance rendering is gorgeous. The new engine is superb. Though it is such a familiar game that it is hard to notice some of the changes, especially if you added mods for Quality of life, there are a number that are directly implemented. Mods are easy as heck to use and install etc. Sound has been great, load times are good and I have had a couple random crashes and not sure if it is me or the game, so... :)
