Resolution scale keeps changing
I'm running the game on High across the board, but the resolution scale keeps getting back to 90% regardless of me putting it back to 100%. I've been led to believe that I need to go to Epic setting to have it at 100% but my pc won't handle that.
Is there any workaround to fix that slider ? It makes the game "blurry" and not as pretty as it should be.
I can't use DLSS / control pannel to fix it btw, I'm not running with an Nvidia card.

Cheers

using fullscreen it still changes back down to 80%

i think the scale slider is just broken, before you load in the world, you can set the scale by setting it twice, i mean the first time you press save it auto jumps to 90, but setting it again it stays. BUT this said, i don't think it actually set to the value you picked, their for i say the option is broken as of now.

(bump) Any new info on this?
Setting things to EPIC won't change a thing in the graphical quality of the game, it's still kinda blurry and clouds are pixelated, something that I don't see when watching youtube videos or something. I don't really know what is causing this

all i can say is if you need to change it, do it in the main menu, it only jumps back one time, BUT it uses the value you set the second time.

Seems to work.. although the game is still blurry AF regardless of settings. I guess that wasn't the issue damn it

Would you be able to upload some screenshots of the difference? I'm investigating whether I want to buy an AMD gpu. It'll mostly be for Ark as well.

Been this way for about 7 days. I've been trying to tell people.

You may have already tried this, but by chance did you turn Motion Blur off on the right side of the settings? For me everything was blurring all the time until I switched it off.

Yes. It doesn't fix the resolution issue. I always have motion blur set to off.

The resolution/resolution scale IS currently broken for most people. It does NOT always work when you change the value the second time. The bluriness is why I stopped playing, although I'm a veteran player and absolutely love ARK with all it's ups and downs. Don't listen to company white knights, who are trying to defend everything - as I said this is literally one of my favorite games, but I still have my own pride and speak up when something is not acceptable - and there are a TON of issues right now. Remember we are almost in the year 2024, this is not a 2015 Early-Access release, it's not the engine's fault or limitation and this is not a new game release/IP from the ground up, it is the same game with beautiful graphics and Quality of Life improvements. They were familiar with what they are working with and yet here we are.

I tested it on all low, medium and high settings.
My rig:
Resolution 2560x1440p
i9-12900KF
RTX 3080 10GB (MSI Gaming Z Trio LHR)
RAM 32GB (2x16GB DDR4-3200 Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro)

Example: If you are standing at one side of a river (or on the beach) and are looking at dinosaurs on the other side, they appear blurry and a bit pixelated. It has nothing to do with motion blurr, anti-aliasing or the volumetric fog.

Yeah that's kinda the idea. Even the fog can appear pixelated or like flickering. I dunnow why, though I remember having similar issues with ASE back in ~ 2016
I'm running with a r7 5700X / RX6700XT /32Gb DDR4 3200 in 1080p for anyone might be reading this.

I'll keep testing out parameters, be it in game or through the AMD control pannel, who knows

Screenshots do not give justice to what I see, so here's a short video
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZNpziabaj-E&ab_channel=JeanBernard
I activated a bunch of settings to better illustrate it. Notice the pixels in the distant fog. When I remove clouds/fog, it seems like it's fine on the video, but in game it is NOT fine at all, things are still flickering in the distant foliage.
Tried messing with nanite, shadows, lumen, still no fix.

It seems that everytime something is moving (a door, folliage, clouds...) the flickering appears.
I'll keep updating in case I find something, might help somebody
