Changing settings in any capacity sucks. (EDIT)
I love ARK and want to love this game, but it's hard to enjoy the game when I can't change multiple settings. Once I change a setting and press the "Save Setting" button, I can no longer interact with any buttons on screen. I can't change another setting and hit save, and I can't hit the "ESC" button to go back. I have to close the game, relaunch it, and then can change another setting, close the game, relaunch it, and repeat. That is so freaking dumb.
I'm still going to play the game, but OH MY GOSH is that annoying.

EDIT: I have discovered this issue is only with visual settings. Applying any edits to the actual game/ARK itself does not have this issue and I can make as many edits to the game as I want no problem. But, after making any changes to visual settings, I have to relaunch the game to make another change. WTF

EDIT 2: If I make a graphics change in the main menu, I can no longer press the "Join Session" button or whatever it says. So changing any graphics settings in the main menu will disable my ability to even start the game (Join the ARK). I've only got a couple tries left in me before I refund this game man.

EDIT 3: I've now discovered that even if I change a setting while playing the game (In the ARK), I still need to restart the game for the changes to apply. WTF

EDIT 4: I have now discovered that if I change a graphic setting, I can no longer drag things into my hotbar (number slot). WTF

EDIT 5: I've just updated my graphics drivers and my issue regarding having to restart my game have been fixed I think? But now my frames are wayyyy worse with the exact same settings I had earlier. WTF
If it's not one issue, then it's another.

And all settings input field (where you type numbers), are only accepting full numbers(integers) and not floats (0.01-0.99 etc). Even though the slider can make it into a floating number, but that same number, if edited by using the input field, it breaks into full number.

When this happens, can you use remote inventories (dinos, player, containers, etc)? I noticed while playing in 4k that I can only click on some menu settings, and definitely can't hit the save button. In inventories, I can only interact with the left most column. This may be due to switching between monitors, one at 4k and one at 1080p. I have to relaunch to fix it.

Brother I've been trying to get above 60 frames for like 30 minutes. I'm still sitting in the exact place I spawned on the southern beach (Spawn 2). I've closed and reloaded this game about 15 times already trying to fix my settings.

This is making me want to just refund the game. By the time they fix these issues, ARK 2 will be around the corner (if it ever comes out) and I'll have lost interest in another ARK game.

A lot of the performance issues are due to the sky effects. There are plenty of posts and guides on this, but what I've seen work at the very least is pressing ` and typing in r.volumetriccloud 0

Don't forget to force vsync as well, as there's no setting for it (r.vsync 1)

I'm relaunching the game after changing a setting so I'll try it out and let you know how it goes.

I tried the cloud command and it worked. I got about a 30 or 40 FPS boost. BUT, as soon as I hit enter, I became overweight and could barely move. WTF

Okay, sorry for spamming, but I reloaded the game, and the cloud command didn't stick and my FPS are back down into the 60's.

Yes, unfortunately these settings are reset upon loading in. I'm not sure if you'd be able to edit one of the .ini files to make it persistent, I'll give this a shot and let you know.

Visual commands sadly has to be typed everytime you fire up the game, ive yet to see someone createa file that loads the game with the commans.

Sucks because i have like 8 commands i gotta type before i start playing, minor visual things like shadows and cloud stuff, really would appreciate it if i could make the game load with them on so i cna just start playing.

I just realized, would all of those commands work with the launch options from steam? Or no? I'm not really savvy enough to know why that would or wouldn't work. Someone smarter than me (You or someone else) will tell me why lol

Yeah I can't figure this out. Unreal Engine loads client settings in an odd way, and modifying the sky effects might be loaded in an even odder way.

I believe launch options have to be setup by developers, so we can't just throw whatever into there. -nomansky used to be a very popular one and doesn't seem to disable the things I want disabled.

Yeah, I tried using the command with the launch option and it never loaded the game so yeah. No go. But I've found having all the setting to medium puts my frames around 70-80. You would think a 3070 and a R7 5800x would run this game a bit better.
Oh well. Bad optimization will do that.
