What is the value of the equus?

The iguanadon is faster and easier to tame, can carry more, and can sprint forever (on all fours). I dont see how the equus, is all that valuable compared to one. It cant outrun raptors, which are 80% of this islands inhabitants anyway, so i dont see it living very long if i use it as my personal mount.

So what else can it do? I know its saddle is a mortar and pestle (HORRAY!) which i really dont see the appeal of very much. Other than that, what makes it valuable to have?

an equus early game means taming everything without tranq arrows which is expensive to make at first, and don't even have access until lvl 21 i think.
i had the luck to find a low level unicorn on noob peninsula in the south when i first spawned in, tamed it with mejoberries, let me tell you, it made taming a breeze.
also, since they deactivated speed leveling, i feel like every dino has good speed now from the start, they seem faster than in ASE.

I guess i forgot that i can use berries to tame them, so they would actually be an early game tame. I thought i needed at least crops to tame them, which would mean having farming and irrigation set up first. I guess i tamed mine too late, after i already found more useful tames.
