Can be. UE5 is a new technology and typically new software needs new/better hardware. So more GPU memory. On my AMD RX 7800 XT with 16 GB the game run at 1920x1080 in EPIC with 40 to 50 FPS without any graphics tweaks. For single player this is quite ok. I tested switching off the FPS limiter and with volumetricclouds 0 I got a boost of 25 to 30 FPS to nearly 80 FPS.
I never really got a huge fps boost with the clouds off either in my game, even from day one. But I keep them off simply because, at the lower graphical settings, something causes them to flicker in ways that is extremely distracting for me. So I'm fine just keeping them off.
Hey, if they flicker try using DLAA mode in DLSS, it is a bit taxing but you can counter that with using r.VolumetricCloud.StepSizeOnZeroConservativeDensity 10 which reduces the clouds a bit, the higher the number the less clouds there are but the downside is you lose the immersion a bit. I actually think clouds are vital to the game as nights are actually bright af without them. So far I believe it is best to lock everything on lowest settings aside from shadows and global illumination both at high, you lose fps here but gain it elsewhere so it is a decent balance and the game still keeps it's "looks"
use nanite.maxpixels etc and set it to 3 and you gain some fps, setting it to 4 gains a tad more but you see the quality drop too much imo
No problem :)
It depends, the game is buggy, sometimes it doesn't fully recognise the or implement the change until you restart
But you paid 45 bucks so some other dudes who are doing this all day, do it for you, this should have been not our problems it should be the problems of the devs and they should be made accountable for it
Ok first off let's ease up a bit, the devs are doing what they can....it's the demand that is causing issues, the demand from above I mean. If they were given more time to do a better job I am sure they would have made a more stable experience, however they had to get the game ready for launch due to business decisions beyond their control. So let's just chill on the whole "Make 'em pay" aggro.
Next let's tackle the "But you paid 45 bucks so some other dudes who are doing this all day, do it for you," this is my time and I enjoy it doing whatever I want to, I am studying coding and this is a learning experience that can bolster my understanding of the tech and I have actually had fun being curious and playing around with the command lines. For instance, type grass.sizeScale 10............you will have a laugh but aside from that I have been interested in what bells and whistles this UE5 has and have discovered that it is actually a much more bloated piece of software than it's predecessor so I am not surprised Ark is not optimised as well as it should be, but that takes time and we already know that was taken away from the devs as I mentioned above.
Now, every game has performance issues and there are ways we as gamers share tips and tricks to improve that and don't even get me started on the Modding communities that literally keep the blood flowing so these games last much longer than they deserve to....all done by the modders for free of charge.
This game in my opinion could have been made available to us for free as was many upgraded games before it but they chose to charge us and sh!t on the ASE community who have invested many years on servers that will now be shut down completely, that is where the key issue is at least in my opinion. "Decisions" seem to be the cancer that has tainted the franchise and it was all from greed, thankfully there is no season pass or store bundled within this game and apparently all the DLC will be free tho I may be wrong. So there is some good with the bad, you know all the YT's are uploading the same content? The ones we listen to and think "They are right!" etc? They are just as bad, posting the same cookie cutter content bashing the game..........as far as content goes people are spending a lot more time consuming that crap over and over again and the creators will be lost without it. It is actually very sad that when and if the game is fixed you will still see the same lazy content complaining about a flying T-rex or whatever, you can literally smell the row of lazy content just waiting to be released when this game is launched on consoles. Anyway, all I am saying is chill out, enjoy the game or play something else, the complain train is not worth your time so don't judge what others do with their time, especially if it helps you.
Have fun
This is for those who can't reach a decent FPS, everyone else it's just a bonus
I gave it a try but unfortunately the game is just too laggy for me to use DLAA, but that did indeed stop the flickering, and even with the cloud setting up to 10 I still couldn't get the fps that I'd like so for now the clouds will have to be turned off for me. I don't mind the nighttime being brighter
