Weird clouds bug?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYXl484bVRc
I'm having this weird bugged clouds with flicker/distortion which looks like a swarm of insects.
Setting the "Advanced Graphics" to "Highest" and/or turning off DLSS slightly lessens the distortion but doesn't make it completely go away.
Anybody experiencing the same problem?

I'm experiencing the same thing; guess we'll have to wait for a patch...

So that is the volumetric clouds with lumens affecting them (from the moon) The shadows are grainy right now due to a bug in UE5 that should be fixed in a future update to UE5 (version 5 or later).

Wether ARK upgrades to that version or not is a whole other matter.

Yesterday, I found out I'm no longer experiencing this.
Probably one of the recent updates fixed it?

Edit: nvm I guess this was just my imagination. It is not fixed.

There is a fix for that, 2 console commands. The problem is the shadow filter that applies to the volumetric clouds, they are all wrong. Lowering them makes them prettier, here is the fix.

Let me grab them:
r.VolumetricCloud.ViewRaySampleMaxCount 64
r.VolumetricRenderTarget.Mode 3

USe those 2, and clouds dont flicker AND they look smoother.

To be precise I still can see it happening a tiny bit but it has significantly improved.

Edit: nvm I guess this was just my imagination. It is not fixed.

Thank you for the info. I'll try it if I find it apparent again.
And I hope your info helps anybody who came to seek the solution for this.

Test them and let me know, for me they both fix the clouds AND that shimmering effect above water in the distance, amost looks glitchy/blurry
woah, someone who actually SHOWED us their issue?!?

I would just suggest turning them off. Performance drop isn't worth it.

As per above ...... The novelty wears off after five minutes and the quality just isn't there yet. Switch them off and wait for them to be improved, really not worth the performance hit. Worse was sun up in the tall forests ....... Looked like two flat lines of sunlight coming through the trees and seem low res.... horrible. I leave the fog on though as it makes it more fun trying to tame a cat when you can't see far and you know it's there somewhere.

no ned to turn them off, some people like the look,me included, without them the sky looks naked and the distant landscape looks fake.

The 2 lines i posted is a huge improvement

I have to confess I missed that bit so will have a go next time I'm on. Thanks.

Thanks i know, they pretty much fix clouds. Im currently trying to figure out how to stop tree shadows from flickering, as they are the only shadow that seems to change when you move the camera. It has something to do with direct lighting from the sun, just cant find the command.

And i also wanna fix the distant fog in lightrays, its very fuzzy
