It's really starting to seem like they are softly nudging people to get Nitrado as a fix for all the problems. Since mods do seem to work in dedicated servers, Tether distance isn't a thing in dedicated servers (A setting that can not be changed no matter what you do in non-dedicated). And password locking your server is also possible in dedicated..
Softly Nudging? Seems like they aren't even giving us a choice at this point...
And you know that 1) This is Ark Survival Ascended, not Evolved. 2) This game actually did have mods out since day one, so your argument is invalid. and lastly 3) They advertised the game as having a first ever cross platform mod support AND they had been working together with modders to bring some mods to the game from launch.
Facts are: They promised mod support. They mentioned mods since launch. Yet those mods that they already worked on before the game was even released still don't bloody work in non-dedicated games.
Try better next time ;)
I'm not sure about the Featured new Dino's. However my friends and I did spot a wild Maewing today! So they do spawn! You might have to "DestroyWildDinos" command to force new spawns though.
(I said my friends and I but technically it was our host that saw it because you know.. No mods for non-dedicated players. We could attack it though and did see an invisible dino bleed! XD)
