The Host's Computer has to keep track of everything the "OTHER" Players are encountering rather than those objects going into a deep sleep like they do on normal singleplayer. Tethering is there to mitigate it to an extent. I mean it's the same reason that if you did Undedicated on ARK SE everyone would teleport to a cave if the host entered a cave.
I mean there is a reason games like Mercenaries 2 and Saint Row games also had Tether distances. While not having "SERVERS."
Being ARK SA isn't CPU intensive I wouldn't be surprised if most people have the extra RAM/CPU to tackle Tether being max out.
But it isn't there becomes of some grand conspiracy.
It can't be fixed. People have asked for this for 8 years (on older version of ARK too). It is part of the design. If you don't like the tether, you can run a dedicated server (although it is not as simple as tethered).
Tethered was added for those that can't figure out how to run a dedicated server. It is better than nothing, but really, the other player is playing in your game. The game does not and can not render in parts of the map you are not present in, hence the tether.
So figure out dedicated or live with the restrictions of the tether, those are your choices.
More than likely ASA takes more resources than the old version. Get a super computer and you can then max out the tether distance, or just run a dedicated server as the game is designed to be run and it will work for you.
There are like 100 bugs and crashes right now. I'm surprised this old topic is back.
