Mine took like 3 minutes total.

You're not downloading the entire game again. The installation speed should just depend on your storage device writing and reading speeds.

Sadly as much as you do not want to believe this is an issue with Steam and the Unreal game Engine for the most part. Many games on Unreal have slow updates, Conan, Atlas just 2 off top of my head.
If you go to Steam with this as I did year ago they will blame your PC or ISP, so I stopped. I have a 1yro Alienware with high mid tier hardware and still have this issue so not the PC. I have a completely different ISP now so not that. I can also go install a game and or update a game on Epic Game Store with absolutely no issues.
The only way that Steam will fix the issue is if enough people say something. Even original Ark had this issue. People blame the devs but they UPLOAD the data to Steam, Steam downloads it to you. Devs are not involved in it by the time you get the data.

Happened to me too. Maybe if they start paying for the people who does ♥♥♥♥ right instead of going cheap with everything from equipment to labor, we wouldn't have these issues.

They’ve had 3 updates since the 1am release ..”cough” 3 hours late.. anyways I’ve had to reinstall the game after each update … come to find out you need just as much free space as the install size in order to patch and update ark this was confirmed and having freed up 90gb plus the 79 gb install I was able to patch through

you are misunderstanding how steam does it's thing and it's kinda weird how it displays. when it patches a game, it will show the size of the game on the right side of the bar but the actual download size is on the left. it will also show the unpacked size of a big download but that's not your download size, just the size of what you're working with.

it showed it on mine but it didn't redownload 70gb, it downloaded 300mb and patched it and was showing the size of the game it was patching

nah people who don't know anything about anything will still get on here and cry because that's how they solve problems, they cry until someone with a triple digit IQ comes along and takes pity on them. kinda like how a lost lamb just screams bloody murder until it either dies of shock or someone saves it, or a predator hears it and eats it but ♥♥♥♥ sapiens decided cannibalism wasn't cool after seeing what it did to the j- i mean, neanderthals

Right now my updating side is 2.5 gb/70.2 gb and the right side is 5.4 gb/74.9gb. Something definitely not right... doesn't matter too much who's fault it is it just shouldn't be doing this

So you have a solution? Or not?

Is not misunderstanding it's happening to me also. If I were to use a three digit IQ and guess it would be because of something to do with the game not being installed on the same drive as Steam. Maybe steam looks for a game to patch it's not there so it re-downloads the whole thing just a guess. But what I can tell you is that it is absolutely redownloading the whole game . it's very easy to read that the 337.4 MB patch in front of the 75.9 GB total size you can tell exactly what is what. For me it is also happening the patch 337.4 MB is not what is downloading. I am currently 11.5 GB into 75.9 GB of the entire game redownloading after an update. This is the third update, and third time it has redownloaded the whole game. Don't assume because something happens to you and you understand it, that it is the same issue that is happening for everyone. I have over 100 games on Steam and have been playing for more than 25 years. This is definitely a steam issue or an issue with the game and it needs to be resolved.

Same here, whole reinstall.

Game installed on SSD 600+ GB free.
Steam downloads Update to HDD - Datastorage = infinite Loop @2% on install.

This seems to be a "Steam sucks issue"
Groseille Jan 12, 2024 @ 2:20pm
Infinite Loop @2% same here, everytime the game update - except this one who is still blocked since a few hours...
Oped May 11, 2024 @ 1:59am
Has anyone found a fix for the full download each update outside of smart *** comments saying it isn't happening? Steam and ARK installed on the same SSD with 600+ GB spare, 107GB download, 112 GB write every update can't be right...
