Pearls?

It seems that Silica Pearls in underground caves cannot be looted by hand or by any tool. Has anyone figured out how to loot them?

Yes, both first and third person modes, pickaxe, hatchet. Can farm crystals nearby but not pearls. I'd try Whip but Scorched Earth is not out yet :)

Yes you can harvest them.
You probably are standing too close (look forward not down)
You will harvest fiber around it first.

Will try today, thanks for the hint.

UPDATE: Tried today, after harvesting all the fiber around it starts harvesting pearls. Thanks for the answer.

Get rid of the grass. Bring a sicle and harvest the grass first. It takes priority when looting.

same as hacking a dead trilo on a beach or worse when it floats in the water. Wish WC would deal with this.

^ This. If you have access to SE resources, craft a whip and use that.

Sad they never fixed the awkward harvesting; sometimes you cant even pickup the pearls unless you're looking at a specific angle. IIRC some nodes are unharvestable in general (some of the crystal on volcano).
