Setting up your own Dedicated Server for Ark Survival Ascended

Dedicated Server for ASA
(to make and host your own Unofficial Dedicated Server, not using a hosting service)
First get the Dedicated Server files.

In the upper left corner of your steam library, under the Home, there is Games, Software, (dropdown filter), click it and check the box for Tools.
Now you will see ASA Dedicated Server show up on your list, download and install it. This is better and easier than using steamcmd, and it'll automatically update.

Now make a batch file, similar to Ark Survival Evolved, and put it in the same directory as the executable for the server or point it at its location in the batch file. The server files are located in SteamLibrary/Steamapps/Common/Ark Survival Ascended Dedicated Server/Shootergame/Binaries/Win64

Your batch file will run ArkAscendedServer and relevant config such as server name, password, ports, see guides for setting up Ark Survival Evolved for more info if needed.

I set my server up on my dell poweredge r710 server and I can't seem to get console commands to work. I added <ConsolAccess=True> to my GameUserSettings.ini file and it keeps telling me that commands aren't recognized. Please help, I've looked everywhere and cant find a solution anywhere.

you have to add those in your file like this:
DifficultyOffset=1.0
OverrideOfficialDifficulty=10.0
XPMultiplier=3.0
TamingSpeedMultiplier=6
HarvestAmountMultiplier=3.0
ResourcesRespawnPeriodMultiplier=0.70
ConsolAccess=True


make sure to put in under server settings

if you are on a server i believe you need to type admincheat gcm

Having the exact same issue. Like it does not recognize the admin password. And cant get anything to work in the console.

I have the same problem, I can't connect or load the server, testing on a local network, all communication with the server is already ok, I can ping, file sharing, firewall with ports 7777 27015 7778 27015, even with the firewall turned off, and nothing works. I don't understand how it works for some and not for others.

Make a batch file after you port forwarded and replace the < > with your preferred values.
Then remember to bring over your Server settings in the WindowServer directory. and then boot this batch file up. Then check if you can find your server name in Un-official server list.


place this batch file in the same directory as ArkAscendedServer.exe

Okay, let me try to answer some of these questions posted on this forum... 1) How to enable cheats on my server, commands are not working? Ans: If you did everything (i.e. set the admin password and know it by heart and you have enabled the console to show up when you hit ESC on a PC at the bottom left corner or if you use the ~ key (hit it twice to see all commands entered)... then you need to probably just type CHEAT <command>... example -- (1) when you first login to the Ark Server with your char... in console (~) type = enablecheats <password> (without the <>), then hit ENTER; (2) type = cheat <command>. If you want to test this... use the command <god> (without the <>). It should indicated you are god mode.
2) How to modify settings, etc... like baby cuddles, etc? You can do it several ways... one way is to do it in a single user, single server mode where you answer all the setup questions and configurations questions in the game options screen. Then you copy that out from portion out of the GameUserSettings file in the game folder (found by right clicking on the game and managing files... and following the URL pathway... example = \SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\ARK Survival Ascended\ShooterGame\Saved\Config\Windows
look for the GameUserSettings.ini file. Open it up in Notepad and you should be able to find those settings (just to confirm). You can then copy this over to your server folder... finding it the same way as you did the other file in your game... but this time right clicking on the server version to manage files. Hope this helps some ppl. I picked up this game today and was looking how to do these things and most sites forgot about the primer key for the command --- "cheat" <command>. Without typing "cheat"... then your command, nothing works.

It should suffice. At least for now, the server starts out with 10 GB allocated for "The Island" and dials down depending on how many players are actively online.
