So is this game supposed to replace the old ARK?

Can I please get a TL;DR on this game? Seems an unoptimized mess, even for 4090 owners like myself.

Never knew this was coming out but have close to 700 hours in the original ARK. Bit confused why this came out since people have been waiting for ARK 2.

ARK 2 got delayed until late 2024. This is an Unreal Engine 5 remaster of the existing ARK: Survival Evolved game with some new creatures and new mechanics added. You can still play the original ARK: Survival Evolved in single player or on privately hosted servers but there are no longer any official servers for it.

It started as a free update, but the parent company snail games mismanaged funds so they had to charge for it to cover development costs for both this and ARK 2. I really wanna get in on it, but I'm too broke to afford it. Even if if it's just a graphics update the freshness still has appeal. That being said, i'm very disappointed in snail for not giving me the chance to play it immediately after having bought the entire DLC collection as they came out. Maybe some rich tribe leader will pick me and my roomate up for some cheap labor tho lol

If you're a 4090 owner, you should have known there was no day1 driver update, (think it's come up now)

That said, you can disable clouds or shadows - set rtx to off and sail off at 100+ FPS like me.

I'm running a 4090 build myself, no issues for 7 hours straight, no crashes, no glitches, nothing.

The free version they were talking about was not going to be a remake at all, just an Unreal 5 version of ARK as it was. They charged because they decided to do a remake/remaster.

Ark 2 is delayed until MINIMUM 2025, thats one of the main reasons why.

Guessing Ark 2 won't be out into early access until spring 2025... so they did this and ♥♥♥♥ the bed with 50x more players than servers.
