Character creation crash

I can load into a game (not official as there is no space) but then it always freezes on character creation before i can click anything, has my computer finally met its match or is this something commonly come across?

Not for me. Character creation hangs up in any case, with multiplayer, with single player, with low graphics, all the same freeze.

managed to get into singleplayer, setting dlss off and every settings to low and bloom and light effects to low too... but dont want to play only singleplayer... char creation keeps freezing while logging into Multiplayer servers

I changed to windowed and it worked longer, but still froze up on me after I went to torso. Probably gonna have to wait for another patch to address the issue. Honestly it might not be affecting everyone, but I'm gonna wait for another patch.

can confirm there is no change, game is still completely unplayable (just been trying to load single player) will refund now and review bomb, recommend writing to valve requesting game is taken off the store as its scamming people, completely lying about their recommended and minimum requirements (considering i can run any game out there) and not so much as even acknowledging this issue on discord for example (obviously i understand this could be a long fix but just want some confirmation that at some point i could play the game, PR team needs the sack)

I'm honestly not gonna refund myself, once they get the issue fixed where you can get into the game and not crash as often I'll be happy. But I bought this for single player consumption and not playing on official servers.

final update - i have now requested refund and written to valve, i encourage similar actions as 48 hours after launch and 0 acknowledgement of the issue from the Dev team is not normal. I believe the recommended spec is intentionally low to boost sales in the hope people wont be able to refund or just wont bother. This whole launch has been a joke and all i can do is implore anyone in the gaming industry not to hire anyone that worked on this game. too those who say this always happens with a wildcard release i say it has'nt, i've never had a similar issue with the previous game and its dlc drops or updates, something went seriously wrong in this games development and i would hate to see the same happen to other games.

Not bothered much by these kind of troubles at day one, I was expecting it.
I was fine purchasing ASA because wildcard announced Ark2 will be included. As of now I am reading in forums that terms aren't like that anymore. That is disturbing and the main reason I will probably refund anyway.

i had this issue yesterday, My bro got me to change a few things, what fixed it for me was:

1: Settings > System > Display > Graphic Settings > Find Ark Ascended and set to High performance.

2: Nvidia control panel > Configure sound, PhysX set to my Graphics card.
Manage 3D settings > Program settings > Add Ark Ascended > power management mode > set it to Prefer Maximum Performance.

3: Before loading in to Character creation go into your settings, i set everything to low, tried loading up single player again and it finally loaded and didnt freeze, was able to mess around in character select, backed out and then found an unofficial to play on.

Where do you find these settings? Windows or Nvida Experience?

I officially made it past the character creation screen, I made my changes as quickly as possible and it accepted before crashing. So I wish you all luck and hope the issue gets resolved so there is a point that it will not crash in character creation.

Thank you, I gave it a try and I made it past char creation in single player.
Now no multiplayer server let me in, giving the message "server full" even if it's not, but this is another story.

This sounds similar to steamdeck users. The advice is to immediately create your first character (withing the first 10 seconds) and then turn down the graphics settings once in game, After that you can create a new character.
