I recently purchased Ark Survival Ascended with great anticipation, as it marked a return to my all-time favourite game, a title I've cherished for the past six years. However, my excitement quickly turned to frustration when I attempted to join official servers and found myself repeatedly thwarted by their persistent fullness, making it impossible for me to even load into the game. It's disheartening to say the least, especially when the primary reason for purchasing the Ascended edition was to rekindle the multiplayer experience.

I find myself in a predicament where the prospect of solo gameplay doesn't appeal to me, as Ark's magic has always been in the vibrant multiplayer world. Adding to the challenge, my friends and I are currently unable to host our own servers, which would have been an ideal solution to circumvent the overcrowded official servers.

In light of these difficulties, I'm left wondering what options my fellow Ark enthusiasts are pursuing to overcome this hurdle. Are they facing similar challenges with server availability, or have they devised creative workarounds to keep the Ark adventure alive in these times of crowded servers and constrained multiplayer access? I'd love to hear about their experiences and perhaps gather some insights into alternative gaming experiences or solutions they may have uncovered. So, what strategies or creative ideas are my fellow players exploring to keep the Ark spirit alive in the face of these server-related setbacks?

My solution, refund the game till wildcard pulls their head out of their a**

I know I'll want it eventually so I bought it on sale with no expectations it would be playable for now

Seems inevitable when Nitrado who provides the official servers is the same and only company who makes their money by renting ASA servers to players. Keep official servers full and players have to rent their servers from them in order to actually play the game. Should be illegal imo.

I'm playing other games and read forums. I have over 9000 hours playing Ark, on unofficial dedicated servers, self-hosted, which I assume counts as an Ark enthusiast.

There is not a chance I would buy Ark Ascended unless I could import our existing server files for local hosting (absolutely not paying Nitrado for something I can do better).

The way it was presented to us existing Ark players was that Ark2 was postponed until the devs learned to use the Unreal 5 engine. Please pay us while we learn and btw, there are no plans for importing your existing server files.

I'll let you all beta test it first, so this Ark enthusiast is only reading these forums to see if the water is fine. Obviously, they aren't.

Edited Note: I can still play the original Ark fine, but I no longer trust the devs that it will continue.

You just need to find a compatible Private Server.. and that's the issue really, most people are scared of talking to each other, even on these forums, it's easy to make a new thread and once you do that you don't even need to respond to anyone who posts in, you can just pretend noone is there.. and you can do this on a public server.. just live in your own little bubble.. tell yourself it's you against the world and everyone is out to get you.. the usual "i'm a victim" attitude..

Find a nice server with nice people to talk to, to help and be helped by. And that is actually difficult to do via the current ui. You have to dip your toes into a lot of pools and there's leeches and all sorts of nasty things there.. not least of which are the basic rules. Alot of people play on 5x and 10x and 20x servers.. then they get bored within a week and quit. I think most people recognise this flow of "easy win button" and don't want it.. so they go for the public vanilla game servers. And they are all full. I have bases on about 30 eu servers and 2-3 na servers.. and they are always full.

So I play on a private na server with 5 other people.. we play coop and we're still here after a few months, all playing since release.. and we don't do 5x or 10x etc.. because that's too easy, too boring.. we use only building mods because mods break the game too much. And they're annoying to use, to update, download etc..

Life is about choice.. but the truth is, there is no choice... just an illusion of it.

Everyone saying refund.. how about.. just don't play official, it's always toxic BS and always will be. Unofficial are monitored better, or better yet, just put your money together with friends and get a server through nitrado. I've had mine since day 1 and had no issues on it at all.
