UI crashing my game
Every time i enter and exit the crafting menu or my inventory several times in a row, i crash. about 6 is what i count each time.

The results may vary depending on the PC and their hardware.

I am asking - if other users can help test this, and see when their crashes occur

Were you in the inventory before you crashed?
Were you crafting?
Did it happen when you opened or closed the UI?

For me, all the above.

I wanted to make a baseline for myself (I'm still working on it) So i set everything to the absolute lowest - To alienate any sort of.. graphical problems.

in any case.

If you can help out and tell me when your game crashes, maybe we can collect it here and the Devs can figure it out.

That worked for me. No more crashes when opening or closing the crafting menu or inventory. Thank you very much.. finally I can play it

This happens to me too and the updates have sadly done nothing to fix it.
The crashes consistently happen when I am interacting with storages or crafting stations, and only then. Earlier, I was getting ready to go tame an Argentavis and I just wanted to grab something out of a storage. Moused over an item I wanted to grab, and crashed. I think I was crafting some narcotics at the same time, so the crash might be related to that.
Yesterday, I had 3 crashes in the span of 30 minutes and they were all exactly like that. Then I didn't crash for the rest of the day. Those crashes did seem to be related to crafting stations, because I was not crashing for the first 2 hours while I was running around leveling up and gathering resources to craft tools/armor and build my first base. But as soon as I had the base built and started using crafting stations, I started crashing.

same issue here, always crashes when switching to inventory's & crafting stations. strange enough yesterday i had no issue's.. not one crash and today i had already multiple crashes.
they did release a patch maybe that is causing the problem, idk.
as im writing this i see they released another patch, hopefully it fixes it.

update: now i dont recieve anymore engram points when leveling up... :(

I have also experienced crashing around inventory UI. It only seems to happen at my base when I am crafting. Repeatedly opening the crafting stations or my personal inventory seems to cause it to freeze. I am unable to Alt-tab out of the game or even force quit. When I attempt to alt-tab after a freeze, I can see the other windows and can see that the game is producing two error messages but they do not come up on screen and I cannot tab to them. I also cannot bring up the Task Manager. I am forced to sign out of Windows and sign back in to fix the freeze.

In addition, this has happened once while renaming dinos. I was naming my dinos and on the 4th one in a row the game froze on the dino radial menu.

I do have menu transitions disabled but I have not tried disabling the steam overlay. Other than this issue and a problem with some dinos clipping into the ground under my base (I have an entire pack of Dilophosaurs under my base), the game has run fine for me.

Good evening, go to the folder where the .exe of the game is located.

Click on the Compatibility tab.
Check the box next to Run this program in compatibility mode for and select Windows 7 from the drop-down menu.
Click on Apply and then click on OK.
Launch the game to see if the error has been resolved.

It worked for a friend.

Been getting the same UI crash issue.

Looks like it might be a DX12 issue. Launching it with DX11 forced does seem to stop the crashing (but the game then does look like poo)

Add "-force -dx11 -high" within advanced launch options in steam if you want to try. (right click game in library > Properties)

I havent had crashes for a while. I escaped the beach as that was said, in the original ark, to crash you, so i'm not sure if that has any bearing on anything. I also didn't change or edit anything D:

I've lost 30+ levels, but still have the engrams from when I leveled up, wish they would fix this crap

I'm crashing when I exit inventory or exit painting, and I move or do something right after, waiting about 3 seconds to do something every time I exit seems to help, but I usually forget and spin around and run to the next task only to crash...

When the game crashes and you can see the error dialogs when you Alt-Tab, just Alt-Tab to the error dialog (you still won't be able to see it) and hit Enter. It should still trigger the dialog to close. I have two errors in a row so if I hit Enter twice the game exits and I can continue on, no sign-out required.
Press escape. Turn off the UI Volume. Then go to graphics and turn the UI 3d widgets quality down to the lowest setting. Save. Been doing some fast side to side mouse movement at different DPS thus far no crashes. I'll keep trying to get an intentional freeze up of my screen. I think the sounds of entering and exiting inventory could possibly be at the root. Maybe even some form of conflict with other sounds at the same time? for the sake of research I left Nvidia Shadowplay, Steam and discord overlays on in my game. This happened to me at both the Smithy and the Large Wooden Storage Box and if all of this triggers a freeze i'll report back. In the meantime give it a go. If this doesn't prevent the crash at least one more possibility is eliminated. best wishes and hope this helps!
