Steam deck single player playability?

Anyone tested this game on a steam deck? Plan to play it singel player and have no idea how it would run, I could play the old ark without any problems on it to be fair I play in sessions of 1-1,5 hours if I played longer the deck would heat up quite a bit I think

Will probably run terribly if even high-end cards are struggling with it. You could always buy it, test it for an hour or so, then refund it.

20-25 fps I got. Deck got no warmer than usual

Really, really badly would be my guess, looking at how othe people are reporting it runs, even on a 4090. You're probably better off waiting for the console versions to release first, as a significant amount of optimisation work will need to go into making this game run on current gen consoles. That should then allow Ark Survival Ascended to run on a Steam Deck. Other than that, mods might help.

That's too low for a coherent playthrough, especially in combat against some of the big dinos.

Doesn't it have like a low graphics mode or something to fix the FPS a little?

ASE would be much more worth playing on deck as it actually works somewhat well. Who knows, ASA might work on deck also.

You could probably set the resolution really low but then it would look terrible and text would be fuzzy and hard to read

I'll be surprised if it will ever be a stable 30fps on the deck, since the engine doesn't run well on the steam deck. If you manage to get this working at a stable framerate let us know.

But yes do let us know your experience. I'll probably stick to the original for single player since it doesn't require an ssd since I only got the 256 gb model.

I've heard that the game crashes before you even create your character. But I saw a guy on YouTube showing the game on steam deck. It's very short. And you have to install cryoutilities

wont be the first time games run better on the deck then high end PC's. The small screen means it can run at a lower resolution while still looking great

so far when starting ark suvival ascended all i get when starting the game is a exception access violation fatal error i have no clue how to fix it
