The server hosting system prevents online racing
I find it very problematic that opening lobbies costs money. There are hardly any hosted servers online.

You buy the SIM and then you can't find any servers. What kind of lousy payment model is that?
If I had known that beforehand, I wouldn't have bought it. What a disappointment. I've never experienced anything like that in any sim before.

Did you even read my thread? Your link doesn't say anything about the lobbies that can only be opened for money. It's about actively preventing people from driving on online servers.
The link you posted is only about DLC and not remotely about this topic....
I'm sitting in my racing rig and looking forward to exciting races and then there are 4 servers, all of which are password protected. No online races (hosted) possible
I can't help it, you'll still get these answers here.

That everything is just perfekt, nobody needs hosted servers, and everything is dirt cheap.
And if you don´t like it play something else.

What are you trying to tell me? It's a fact that this is why there are so few servers available. Nobody wants single player against AI. That's just really disappointing. Where is hosting cheap? It's extremely expensive. I'm not one of those people who can throw money around and host expensive servers every night. I work hard for my money and of course I like to spend it where I get added value at a reasonable price. But this is just lousy. It's a basic function that's hidden behind a paywall. Nothing about it was mentioned before I bought it. This is customer deception.
Then just wait for the answers from the fanboys, then you'll see what I mean.
It's not an ideal hosting situation, but it was done this way, because a lot of people struggled setting up port forwarding on their modem/routers or through internet service grade NAT.

Many people knew paid server hosting was coming to Le Mans Ultimate way back in 2023. rFactor 2 was being used as a Guinea Pig to test Le Mans Ultimate's paid hosting service function.

It wasn't a secret or a hidden detail.
Just because something is on an external site doesn't mean it was clearly communicated. It isn't communicated on the product page on Steam, where you make the purchase decision.

Charging such prices for a lobby system is simply a rip-off and cannot be justified in any way. There is pure greed behind this.
Most of the leading SIM racing websites knew about the paid server hosting service.
It wasn't a secret, it wasn't hidden information. There were various YouTube videos about it from numerous bloggers.

That's what happen when a studio on the verge of closing is producing a mediocre product only a few pretend to enjoy, excusing any fault behind the EA tag : DLC and paid services. It's their only hope to survive 2025, "milking" their playerbase while they can.

Congratulation, you've earned the lamest excuse of the day.

You honestly believe someone seeing this game on Steam is researching to that depth prior to purchase? It's a video game, not an investment property. Put the details on the tin, otherwise it feels like a scam.

Hmmmm.

First part claims nobody reads/does research when buying a game on steam.

Second part instructs to "put the details on the tin" even though the first part states no one reads/researches what they buy on steam.
