This really needs fixing
Waited about a week for a P2 race at Fuji a garbage track if ever a saw one.

Anyway started last, deliberate and AT NO POINT did I speed on the rolling start period, the bar was green for the WHOLE TIME yet I get a penalty. Along with about 6 others, surely not a coincidence. |It tells me for about 10 seconds what it is drive thru etc then the message disappears so I don't know what to do as I am concentrating on trying to avoid people.

I call in to the pit stop at the box AND do a drive thru and the penalty still is there. I mean this is not difficult to fix, I did absolutely nothing wrong yet this utter piece of tripe still basically means I wasted a sodding hour of my life for nothing.

I hate to say it but I think this game is dying and is probably already dead, it is a shame as the base content is pretty good. But stuff like this makes my blood boil and is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO easy to fix. It is basics it really is, sod DLC and other stuff get your sodding priorities right, make the damn game work properly.

If you have a drive through (and I'm not commenting on the validity or otherwise of the penalty - I've had a few duff ones too), you literally drive through the pitlane and out again - do NOT stop at your pit, otherwise it will think you're just making a pit stop and will not count it as serving your penalty. You'll know when it's been served as the red arrows at the top of your screen will disappear. If you use CrewChief like me he will also confirm that the penalty has been served.

Yeah, drive through's work, there is nothing to fix there, I have had my fair share of them and also have made the mistake of stopping at the pit, more by habit. I have also had a stop n go that I thought was a drive through, so the whole drive through did not count and had to come back. Frustrating but just part of the deal.

And Fuji is an incredible track, just need to practice there. Once you get it down it is such a fun track to drive!

The drive through is not the issue, not speeding is the bloody issue the bar was green and under 37 the entire time, this is something that needs fixing really badly

I don't think we can answer that one. I must admit I've taken advice from elsewhere and before the speed thing comes up I switch on the pit lane speed limiter. Shoestring is right though, once you get to grips with the Mickey Mouse sector 3 stuff, it is a great track to drive. Third in my favourites list after Le Mans and Spa.

Bottom of mine so far, just a very dull track and the last section is all F1 , compared to Spa or Sebring or even Monza its awful
Aysedasi Aug 15, 2024 @ 10:23am
It's one of those tracks I've warmed to. I wasn't a fan initially as I found it really hard not to spin in that last sector, but the first two sectors in particular are as good as anywhere for racing.

OK now this time I got done for out of position, the stupid cretinous idiotic lines make no sense, one minute you are too close the next you are too far away, so you speed up, and then get a pathetic, moronic dumb speeding drive through.

This really is a total and utter joke, you again spend about an hour waiting around and your race is over before it starts as they you are also driven into by 5 effing people. Damage in a race lasting 20 minutes I mean what really is the sodding point, more points lost, meaning MORE SODDING time in this crap garbage class.

Honestly there are aspect of this game that are utterly shameful and again I reiterate, STOP arsing about trying to get money out of people the game is flawed in many ways beyond any normal levels of development.

You do need to follow those lines, even if they are not exactly behind the car you are following. If the lines are a bit out left or right, it's probably because the car in front is slightly out of position. You can take this with a pitch of salt if you like, but try starting a couple of races from the pitlane. I just did an LMP2 race at Fuji. I qualified well down in 12th. Because I had to nip to the loo (which is an issue that I have to live with these days) I couldn't fuel the car up in time to make the grid. I started from the pitlane. Finished in 6th place having been last around T1. I'm not suggesting you should start every race from the pitlane, but as you seem to be regularly falling foul of the start procedure, do it once or twice, at least you'll get a race in..... ;-)

I have just done it a couple of times, so much better

Yes you don't really get anywhere in qualifying but the awful start procedure is ignored, had another earlier bloke in front on and off brakes, could not avoid it, another sodding penalty it really is a garbage setup utterly not fit for purpose as it stands.
Aysedasi Aug 16, 2024 @ 7:56am
As it happens, I've had another drive through today for being 'out of position'. I was last on the grid anyway having not done any laps in qualifying and I was behind my position, not in front of it...... ;-)

It is broken pure and simple, nothing more can be said really too complex, just set everyone to 37, especially on beginner
Shoestring Aug 16, 2024 @ 9:35am
Not broken at all, sorry man, not trying to antagonize. Use your pit limiter. If you are seeing green on the screen you are not close enough. When you are in the right spot you will not see any color at all, that is what you want. Saw a guy online doing this, he was trying to keep it green, but green means 'you need to be up here', so he kept getting penalty and was asking people on YouTube if they knew why he kept getting a penalty. Once you see no color, hit your limiter and always stay in line, even if car in front is weaving. You will never get a penalty again.
Edit -This does not account for bad driving in Online, though. If guy in front is too slow or too fast or slams brakes like you said, stuff can happen but that happens in life as well. Online you really have to pay attention to the colors and just try to keep the screen free of them, which means you are good. For the post a couple above, being behind your grid position is just as bad as being in front, as far as a penalty is concerned.

As far as the sim is concerned, definitely so.... in 'moral' terms, rather less so when you're the last car on the grid..... ;-)
