The subreddit where this originated from literally goes after every VN localization that gets released. They also mass banned anyone associated with any localization groups and their staff. they will be nitpicking anything and everything that gets released.

The translator who TLed this has almost 10 years of experience. was also the Translator of To Hearts 2, is also translating Clover Days and other upcoming VNs

The head mod of that reddit is even Blocked and banned on vndb ( Visual novel Database Website ) the goto site for any Visual Novel information for being toxic towards any official localized releases. and this should already give you warning signs.

I read that the Translator is competent, but even they complained that their script was drastically changed by one of the editors.

Localizations will never be authentic because their Job is to make the translations in such a way that someone who has no idea of Japan and its culture should be able to understand what is going on in a particular scene or a story related event , even if that means altering the text by not being 100% accurate as long as the core intent goes through.

if the Author wants you to laugh or feel emotions with regards to a particular person and/or event then that will take precedence over 1:1 text accuracy when it comes to localization

and this applies not to Just VNs but everywhere else and other Languages too.

I doubt any of us VN readers want the localisations dying, but we want good/accurate translations/localizations that stay true to the original work as much as possible. Regardless of how you personally view it, visual novels are still novels, they are literature, and changing the script of a novel per your own preferences and ideas and straying away from the original work is something that shouldn't be considered acceptable. As fans of the medium and as customers who buy the products, I think we are absolutely entitled to get a product that stays true to the original work.

Considering most of the people translating these games and editing them after the fact think both VN fans and the entire country of Japan are pedophiles I think the death and restart of the entire localization industry as it currently stands would be a net positive. Better to leave the works untouched than tarnish them beyond repair.

NN hires translators on contract basis.. they have multiple translators working for them across different projects. If your going to block an entire localisation company based on words of a single person, then be my guest.
You will be ignoring the very people who released the likes of Aokana, Yuzusoft titles, Saga Planets etc. People get jealous because of another persons success. NN is a Successful Localisation company so far even moreso than Shiravune or any other localisation company out there. and with that success comes haters.. People who are jealous.. the fact that they were not chosen over the ones who were chosen as Translators. Open your eyes and stop falling for such traps set by these people . Jeez

These are the type of People who hate everything Localisation.. doesn't matter good or bad.. they will fault everything.

And looking at the VN localisation scene in general. it doesn't take any effort to look at where things stands as to who releases what and how long they take to release stuff and the type of stuff they release. If your going to ignore NN then save for Shiravune. there are not many localise left who dish out Quality VNs vs cheap riff-offs .

Hope you guys are not forgetting the days where publisher likes Moe-Novel. Sakura game existed.. you you really want to go back to those times ?

This applies not just to you but everyone else . there are things which you will be told to do even if you dont fancy them because you were hired to do them.
