I just played 20 minutes. Every line of dialogue is, uh,... hentai. I seriously doubt theres actually a story here. Not really what I expected tbh. My fault for not doing better research.

I was asking because maybe could be comparable to the anime called Shimoneta but in reverse, sort of... but it is sort of concerning that most of the content is from the patch. The other thing that made me curious, is that this VN seems that won some awards in japan AFIK and vndb user votes are around 8 which sounds kind of wild to me given the synopsis. I don't mind explicit scenes, but if the comedy and the plot aren't on par maybe it won't be my thing.

I have no idea about the translation, but the comedy and plot is probably better than shimoneta

I'm only about three hours in, but it's a pretty engaging read so far. Most of the 18+ content I've come across is more to make you uncomfortable than to titillate. All part of the game's commentary.

I played the all series in Japanese.
It has a lot of comedy, but it takes on serious themes and story points too. The amount varies by the route, but some can have heartbreaking moments.
Just enjoy the ride I would say.

I would say Shimoneta was more cringe than this. Well if you go for parody of +18 stuff you have to somehow show it going on without censorship. This game will strike into very niche group. Everyday for MC here is like a hentai episode playing audio in the background and the guy tries to get normal interactions with people.

I mean, as I said, I don't find explicit scenes a problem if is not just that and the other aspects of the VN are actually that good. The only reason I mention Shimoneta, is that even if it had a strong lewd vibe and comedy, it had an interesting dystopic background and as cringe as the behaviours from the characters could've been, still had me laughing. So I wondered if there was any similarity to this or if it's mainly the explicit content.

People find many things funny, hell I would say check it then and if it's not to your liking no harm done within 2 hours. It certainly has enough background for me to see it further how it all turns out. But I would lie by saying that I am target audience for this. I prefer comedy vibes similar to Hello, Lady!

At the beginning there is only 1 decision with 3 choices which heroine will end up by your side.
After playing through the 3 paths, 1 extra path is added...
It's more reading a lot of text with classic content.
If you like it, you will find a good game here, but if you want to have many paths, you will search in vain...

It was intended to be a nukige, but a twist to its game tags made this visual novel blow up, earning an acclaimed reputation, and winning a couple gold game awards in 2019. The plot being 'good' is subjective but I'd say it's an absurdly fun ride. The PV, 1st opening, and 2nd opening respectively on YouTube having over 1 million views respectively also says a lot about its popularity even without the background history.

except the devs had nothing to do with the patch or the steam version for that matter.
The Japanese version is 4.5 GB is size and on top of being popular has sold alot. same can be said for its sequel and Hentai Prison the 3 eroge from the Dev.
