What are family good for exactly?
Just started the game. I picked the family that I was from based on their buildings, thinking that I would be able to have some benefit from that. But when I go to our buildings I'm not able to access the chests and when I talk to family it doesnt seem like there is any difference from speaking to anyone else.

Ok... weird. I figure I may as well go explore so I leave town and immediately run into what I assume are bandits. I try to fight one but I'm doing 1 damage (when I don't get parried) and he's doing around 14 to me. So I run back to the town for safety and hole up in one of my family's buildings. I turn around and the bandit has walked into our building, blocking the exit. Tons of family members inside the building with me. The bandit completely ignores them, actually moving through their spaces to get to me. They stand there and watch me die as I attempt to fight this guy.

So. What exactly are family good for?

Pretty much nothing. You can harvest their crops if they have any and that's as much as I've found that they contribute. They don't even acknowledge that they know you.

The chests are the settlement stash, you can only access those from the settlements that you claim and make yourself later in the game.

Family does 2-3 things:
- Discount on all goods and services from businesses owned by the family (they will not buy things from you at a better price though) - this is pretty minor from what I've observed.
- If they have farms or gardens, etc. (but not mines, I think), you can freely harvest from those locations without breaking the law.

In terms of the bandits, did you leave the first map? or just run into wandering creatures on the outskirts of town? I'm assuming the latter b/c i've never had enemies cross into another region to follow me. In either case, I've found that friendly/neutral NPCs will pretty rarely assist me in fights (regardless of family status), although I have seen it happen.

I just did the exact same thing in the demo lol. Thanks, fam, love you too! Hopefully it's just not implemented yet, otherwise the "choose your family" portion is completely pointless. I think I'll pass on this game until it's a bit more fleshed out.
