Save the World Save Folder once an hour or so. When a crash like this happens replace bugged save folder with the backup.
The first one is called "Manual Backup" and can be used when in game. When used it generated a clone of the savefile, saved in the save folder called something like "worldname_save".
The second one is called "Restore Backup" and can be used when in world load menu. When used it restores the "worldname_save" by replacing the original save files with the manually triggered backup.
Savefolders are relatively big, yes. But in 2023 it should not be a problem imo, as disc space is not overly expensive these days and most people have enough of it.
