that would explain it then
Skills in the full version go up to level 50, and the main idea is that it will be harder to raise the potential of the skill rather than trained value, and the reason for this is that potential is more about discovery and planning rather than grinding. Because the game has permadeath on characters, requiring a lot of grinding to build one will be annoying.
On the other hand, because the world persists, you can keep items, buildings, and gold you accumulate in your stashes through generations, the skill potential has limits as well, so a single character won't be able to be skilled at everything, which means there will be some opportunities to plan through multiple generations.
This is the general premise, and I'll tweak things during EA to support this direction.
I can answer this as Ive already encountered it.
By NOT choosing certain skills when creating a character... those skills have LOWER caps then others.
I didnt choose construction... so for my character it caps out at 10 (along with other skills)
I CHOSE Defense... so its cap goes all the way up to 20,
Same with Axes.
I didnt choose Swords though, so it caps at 10.
My guess is that is the limited potential hes talking about. Not every character is going to be able to do Everything to Maximum levels.
it wouldnt make any sense if you could.
I think there's more to it than that.
You can also pay an NPC for training to raise your potential skill cap. The potential limit looks like the total number of points a character can train, there's a number up the top of the skills page that says what the total limit is.
I think the idea behind it is... your lineage benefits from your successes as you go.
Person 1... the conqueror... Amasses the money, items, gear, but... is a terrible builder.. his tiny stone shack is pathetic and lame
Person 2... the Leader.. Takes those riches, and builds an empire, a town of startling beauty and precision... but hes a terrible crafter.
Person 3.. the artisan.. Uses the city, and the resources to create the finest items, weapons and armor in the land.
person 4.. The King... Like the Conqueror, but now equipped with items of unrivaled power... he uses them to dominate the other factions.
hey not everyone enjoys rogue-lites, or understands them.
there are literally thousands of other games out there for ya my guy :D
Your comment is totally ignorant. None of the things you mentioned in your previous post is in a roguelike game. Have you even played ROGUE? Of course you havent kid.
what he wants to do... is exactly what i stated.
I highly doubt that what you posted is exactly what the dev wants to do. And even if it is, I still say its a horrible idea.
that is your opinion and you are free to have it. But not liking something doesn't mean it will change, nor should it.
